Tata Motors Adds 5 New AMT Trims In Nexon Line-Up
Tata Motors has extended its Nexon compact SUV range with five new automated manual transmission (AMT) variants. Starting at Rs10 lakh ex-showroom for the Smart+ trim in petrol-AMT and Rs 11.80 lakh for the Pure trim in diesel-AMT, this extension enriches the Nexon offerings to 96 trims, providing customers with diverse powertrain and variant selections.
Earlier, the entry-level Nexon petrol-AMT was priced at Rs 11.70 lakh, and the base diesel-AMT began at Rs 13 lakh, both belonging to the mid-spec Creative trim level. Alongside the introduction of these new AMT variants, Tata Motors has recently launched the Nexon Dark Edition range, with prices commencing at Rs. 11.45 lakh. The Nexon AMT boasts a 120 bhp, 170 Nm, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed AMT gearbox. This engine configuration is also available with a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, depending on the variant. On the other hand, the diesel variant is equipped with a 115hp, 260Nm, 1.5-litre engine, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
In terms of features, the base Nexon Smart+ trim offers LED DRLs, a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, four speakers, electrically adjustable ORVMs, drive modes, six airbags, ESC, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The Pure trim enhances this with full LED headlamps and tail lamps, roof rails, rear AC vents, touch-based HVAC controls, wheel covers, a knitted roof liner, a 4-inch digital instrument cluster, and voice commands. Furthermore, the Pure S variant includes a sunroof, auto headlamps and wipers, and an electrochromic IRVM over the Pure trim.
Additionally, Tata Motors has announced plans for a CNG option for the Nexon, featuring the company's twin-cylinder technology. This innovation could potentially make Nexon India's pioneer in receiving a turbocharged CNG powertrain.
