New Skoda Fabia launched in India with four new variants

The Indian subsidiary of the Czech Republic based car maker Skoda has launched new variants of its premium hatchback Fabia in the Indian market. The number of the variants has been increased to 5 from previous 3 variants of this car. Following is brief of the variant refresh that has been done by Skoda in the Fabia model.

The base model Fabia Classic has been replaced by the new Fabia Active, though the feature line-up of new variant remains almost similar to the previous one. The only mentionable change that has been made in New Fabia base model Active is the removal of the drive airbags, which was available in Classic model. However, the price of the car has been reduced by only RS 3,000 to Rs 4.44 Lakhs from previous price of Rs 4.47 lakh. The same size reduction has been made in the price of Fabia Active diesel, which is now available at Rs 5.50 lakh from previous price of Rs 5.53 lakh.

Similarly, the medium range Ambiente model has been renamed as Ambition. The Fabia Ambition has lost the dual front airbags, which was available in the previous Fabia Ambiente model. However, the price reduction for this trimming is only Rs 8,000. Which means the Fabia Ambition carries a price tag of Rs 4.91 lakh, as compared to the price tag of previous Ambiente of Rs 4.99. The Fabia Ambiente diesel that was available at Ra 6.08 lakh earlier is now available as Fabia Ambition Diesel at 6.00 lakh.

The Fabia Elegance can be considered the most benefited in this new arrangement as for the price hike of just 10,000, it has got two premium features including rear wiper washer and 15-inch alloy wheels. While the Elegance petrol variants are available at Rs 5.84 Lakhs and Rs 6.16 Lakhs for 1.2L and 1.6L versions, respectively. The diesel variant of Fabia Elegance is available at Rs 6.88 Lakhs.

In addition to this, the two new variants Fabia Active Plus and Fabia Ambition Plus carry a few feature changes. While the Active Plus has got all four power windows in addition to the features of base model Active, the Ambition Plus is featured with all four power windows and folding key, in addition to the features of Ambition model. The prices of new variants are as follows - Fabia Active Plus 1.2 MPI — Rs 4.64 Lakhs; Fabia Ambition Plus 1.2 MPI— Rs 5.04 Lakhs; Fabia Active Plus 1.2 TDI — Rs 5.72 Lakhs; Fabia Ambition Plus 1.2 TDI — Rs 6.14 Lakhs.
