M&M Hands-Over First Fleet Of Scorpio Classic To Indian Army
Recently the Indian army ordered the domestic carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra for 1,850 units of Scorpio Classic to deploy in 12 of its units. Now, according to a statement issued by the carmaker, it has delivered the first fleet of the SUV to the Indian army. At present, the Indian army has Tata Xenon, Tata SafariMaruti Suzuki Gypsy, and Force Gurkha in the fleet of its vehicles. The Mahindra Scorpio Classic delivered to the Indian army is speculated to be a 4x4 version.

Speaking about the engine configuration, the Classic Scorpio receives power from a 2.2-litre diesel engine generating the torque of 230Nm. It is 55 kg light-weighted than its earlier version. Company sources have claimed that due to its light weight, the classic Scorpio of 15% more fuel-efficient. The transmission duties are performed by a six-speed manual gear transmission system. The transmission system uses cable-shift, which is believed to minimize vibrations while changing the gears.
Speaking about features offered in Scorpio Classic the company has upgraded the SUV with MTC-CL dampers mounted on four struts to retain control over the body roll. The list of other features includes automatic climate control, cruise control, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fabric seats, cornering lamps, a sunglass holder and a few more.
