Maruti Alto and Maruti 800 – both are two iconic brand names in the history of four wheelers in India. The eternal magic created by Maruti 800, launched back in early 80’s, which is now limited to only BSIII compliant cities, can be a never-forgetting experience for 800 owners. Whereas, Alto, the largest selling car across the globe (in 2010) has won much appraise in car world by topping the sales chart for 10 years in a row. But ever since, the petrol prices have taken 5th gear, sales have been diminishing. Home grown Maruti was quick enough to combine the traits of both and launch Alto 800 on the auspicious day of Navratri Sthapna.

The seventh generation Alto has been launched in 6 variants in total – 3 petrol and 3 CNG. Maruti Alto 800 CNG LX is the mid-level CNG variant and powered by factory fitted CNG kit. 796 cc engine produces 48 PS of power and 69 Nm of maximum torque. Talking about Maruti Alto 800 CNG mileage, the company has announced that delivering a superb 30.46 km per kilogram of CNG, the incoming model is 13% more fuel efficient the outgoing one. The frame, suspension setup and torsional rigidity have been tweaked in the new car.

A wavefront design, valanced bonnet, fresh headlamps, ornamental tail lamps, new two part grille and spacious cabin, are some of the few visible changes made to new Alto. The headroom has been incidentally increased for passengers, thanks to elevated roofline and the legroom too has extended in Alto 800. The chic and trendy Maruti Alto 800 CNG LX priced less than LXI variant but more than Std variant, definitely misses on some goodies, although the essential parts, fit and finish remains the same. Interiors are offered in grey colour with fabric seat upholstery. Maruti Suzuki India will produce the car in it Gurgaon facility where it will manufacture about 800 units of Maruti Alto 800 per day.
