Hyundai Motor’ Indian subsidiary Hyundai India forayed in the domestic market on May 6th, 1996. By the time it entered Indian car market only five major auto makers were present in India. The Indian subsidiary’s first car to hit the domestic market was Santro hatchback which was launched in India in 1998. At present Hyundai cars in India are doing pretty well and have carved a niche for themselves in their respective segments. HMIL has a manufacturing facility located near Chennai where some of the Hyundai cars like Hyundai Accent Executive, Hyundai Santro Xing, Hyundai i20, Hyundai i10, Hyundai Verna Fluidic and Hyundai Eon are produced locally. HMIL has around 451 dealerships spread across India and 647 authorized Hyundai service stations scattered in 340 cities in India. Hyundai car prices are placed competitively and give a stiff competition to its counterparts. Hyundai cars being in offered in India currently are Santro, Eon, i10, i20, Accent, Verna Fluidic, Sonata, and Santa Fe.
