Honda embarked its operations in India in alliance with SIEL Limited in December 1995. Honda India has its production facilities located at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh and the other manufacturing plant is located in Tapukara, Rajashthan. HSCI has 127 dealerships spread across 79 cities in India. Honda Cars are known for its class apart looks, edgy design and innovative features. Honda cars in India are extremely popular and are present in gasoline variants only, however looking at the growing popularity of diesel powered cars in India, Honda is developing diesel engines for its small cars, sedans and SUV. Honda car prices were a little overpriced and hence the company had to slash its car prices in India to cope up with the increasing competition around it. Honda cars like Honda City, Brio, Jazz, Accord, Civic and CR-V constitute the Indian portfolio. Honda CR-V is brought to India through completely built units, while the rest of the cars are produced in India with an indigenization level of 80% for Honda Brio, 77% for Honda Jazz, 76% for Honda City, 74% for Honda Civic and 28% for Honda Accord.
