XUV700 Owner in Chandigarh Faces Sunroof Leakage Issue
A Mahindra XUV700 owner in Chandigarh faced an unexpected problem during heavy rains. According to reports, an owner of the XUV700 SUV has reported about water leakage in the cabin through the panoramic sunroof. This incident has raised concerns over the SUV’s build quality and maintenance awareness. A video shared by Chandigarh News on Instagram captured the moment as the vehicle’s owner, visibly distressed, sat in the driver’s seat with a towel on his lap, trying to soak up the rainwater seeping from the roof-mounted speakers. These speakers are present near the sunroof, and the leakage of water looks excessive in quantity.

In the viral video, the owner can be seen saying sarcastically that while most cars are built to keep rainwater out, the XUV700 seemed to allow users to "enjoy the rain from inside."
Potential Cause: Blocked Drainage System
According to industry experts, normally, such leakages are not entirely uncommon in vehicles with panoramic sunroofs. The sunroofs installed in vehicles are mainly water-resistant, but not fully waterproof. They have a rubber lining (beading) and an internal drainage system, which allows the water to flow over the roof without entering the cabin.
However, if the drainage pipes are clogged due to dust, leaves, or other debris, the water can overflow and move inside the cabin of the vehicle. This issue is more common in vehicles parked outdoors or not cleaned regularly.
Preventive Measures Recommended
To avoid such issues from happening to your four-wheeler with a sunroof to pay proper attention towards the regular maintenance of your vehicle. Vehicle owners are advised to get the sunroof their vehicle inspected regularly as part of their routine service to avoid such problems, especially before the monsoon season. Keeping the drain pipes clear and free of debris can control and stop the leakage of water and protect the interior of the car from damage.
XUV700 Specifications
