Volkswagen Tiguan may be showcased during Indian Auto Expo 2014
Volkswagen India the division of German car maker in Indian car market may unveil Volkswagen Tiguan, the new SUV from the car maker during upcoming Indian Auto Expo 2014. According to reports the company may bring Tiguan in India via CBU Route and may carry the mechanical specifications of its sibling Jetta. The petrol version of Jetta is equipped with 1.4 litre TSI petrol engine and 2.0 litre TDI diesel engine coated with six speed manual and six speed DSG gearbox. It is expected that it may be launched with price tag between Rs. 20 lakh and 22 lakh. If launched in Indian car market Volkswagen Tiguan will be tough contender to Honda CR-V and Renault Kolios.

Going back to history of Tiguan it is designed on MK6 Golf platform referred as PQ35 and which is commonly used in various other vehicles manufactured by VAG. The Tiguan came into existence in 2007 under the dominance of Auto 5000 which was a subsidiary company of Volkswagen. However the production of Tiguan continued behind the curtains at company plant in Wolfsburg in Germany.
The reason of calling company’s subsidiary company as Auto 5000 is very interesting. It was named as Auto 5000 because the actual rate of pay monthly was 5000 Deutsche Marks and also the number of employees working in group was 5000 out of which 3500 employees were employed in Wolfsburg and 1500 employees were involved in other works at Hanover. After which in 2008 Volkswagen took over the Auto 5000 and started selling Volkswagen Tiguan in International market. International market Tiguan is being sold in markets of Australia, Brazil, China, Europe, Russia and USA. It has not yet revealed its launching date in Indian car market.
