German carmaker Volkswagen has launched the facelift Tiguan SUV in the Indian car market. The new Volkswagen Tiguan is offered with a price tag of Rs 31.99 lakh, ex-showroom and available only in a single trim. The carmaker will locally assemble Tiguan and will be available only in a petrol variant. The facelift Tiguan receives minor updates than its original version that was launched back in 2020 in the international market.

Mechanically, the Volkswagen Tiguan receives the power from a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, that churns the power of 187 bhp and the torque of 320Nm. The transmission duties will be performed by a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission system as a standard feature. It will be available with a 4Motion all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.
Speaking about the features, on the exterior front the new Tiguan receives new design philosophy which is similar to the company’s new design philosophy. On the front fascia, it receives a slightly updated radiator grille with an LED Matrix headlight and LED DRLs. The fog lamps on the front bumper receive a new triangular shape. On the rear portion, it undergoes minor changes in the form of slim taillights.
Moving inside the cabin, you will find a new view of a virtual cockpit with updated upholstery. The seats are covered with Vienna leather followed by a long list of 30 additional features. Some of the notable features available inside the cabin are illuminated scuff plates, ambient lighting, touchscreen infotainment system that supports connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multi-functional flat-bottom steering wheel, three-zone climate control system, driver-side electric seat with a memory function, expansive panoramic sunroof, and a few more. As far as safety features are concerned, the Tiguan 2021 will not disappoint you. It is customized with the safety features like six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, an auto-hold, a hill start assist and hill descent control system, and a driver alert system.
In India, it will compete against Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass, and Citroen C5 AirCross.
