Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus To Get Expensive From January 2023

The German luxurious carmaker has announced that it will hike the prices of its entire range of cars including Taigun and Virtus from January 2023. The carmaker has not revealed the percentage up to which it will increase the prices but said that due to regular increase in the cost of raw materials it has become necessary to increase the prices.

It would be interesting to know that both Taigun and Virtus are best-selling products from German manufacturer in India. Recently, the Taigun SUV scored a five-star rating in the global NCAP test. In India, it is offered with a starting price of Rs 11.56 lakh (ex-showroom) and competes against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Skoda Kushaq. Whereas, with Virtus, it is trying to strengthen its position in the compact sedan segment. Like the Taigun, the Virtus also succeeded in receiving a five-star rating in the Latin NCAP results. It is available with a starting price of Rs 11.32 lakh (ex-showroom). It is equipped with six airbags and ESC features as a standard feature.

Moving to the premium SUV from Volkswagen, the Tiguan, it comes equipped with a 2.0-litre TSI engine and is offered with a starting price of Rs 33.50 lakh (ex-showroom price). In India, it rivals Jeep Compass, Citroen C5 Aircross, and Hyundai Tucson.
