Tata Tigor: Emerges as the Best Selling EV In India
Tata Tigor the premium compact sedan by domestic carmaker Tata Motors had been a game-changer for the company, which not only succeeded in ruling the hearts of the buyers in India but also succeeded in grabbing an opportunity of joining the fleet of vehicles used by the government departments. Now once again the Tigor has succeeded in making its makers proud of it. According to recent reports between the period from April 2019 to December 2019, the homegrown carmaker sold out 669 units of the electric Tigor in India, thus becoming the best-selling EV in the Indian car market. The EV Tat Tigor offers an impressive average of 213 km, approved by ARAI.

Underhood, the Tigor EV is equipped with 21.5 kWh battery and takes up to 90 minutes to charge up to 80 percent with the help of Dc 15 kW fast charger. On the other side while using the regular AC wall socket it almost takes six hours to touch the mark of 80 percent. It would be interesting to know that recently going through the reduction announced on GST by the Government, the prices of Tigor EV were cut down by the company. The compact sedan is offered with dual airbags and anti-lock braking system as standard safety features. It is also offered with an inbuilt three years warranty or 1.2 5 lakh km, whichever is earlier.
With India moving towards electric mobility the performance of Tigor EV can be regarded as an illustration for other manufacturers who are hesitating in extending the production of their existing line-up to electric vehicles. With the starting price of Rs. 9.44 lakh for fleet operators and Rs. 12.59 lakh (ex-showroom) for individual buyers (after deducting subsidies offered by the government. Along with this it also qualifies for FAME II incentive for specific commercial buyers.
