Tata Motors And Mahindra To Extend Their EV Portfolio

The adoption of electric mobility has started gaining momentum, especially after domestic carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors brought new vehicles in the segment.  According to reports, both manufacturers are expected to launch a fleet of new electric models and updates this year, and extend their EV portfolios according to the budget preferences of buyers. 
 
 
Tata Sierra EV: Inspired from the overwhelming response received by the refreshed version of ICE Sierra, the home grown carmaker is all set of bring its electric version soon in the Indian car market. The recent version of the Sierra received more than 70,000 bookings within 24 hours after the carmaker started accepting its bookings. The electric Sierra will be based on Tata’s ARGOS platform, which is suitable of all types of powertrains, including ICE, hybrid and electronic. In the Indian car market, the Sierra EV is expected to come with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. As far as its designing pattern is concerned, it will come equipped with all elements that are offered in an electric four-wheelers including a closed-off grille and aero-optimised alloy wheels, while the cabin layout is likely to mirror the ICE version with distinct colour and trim options. It is expected to come with two battery option packs, including a 55kWh and 65kWh; however, official specifications are yet to be confirmed.
 
Tata Punch EV Facelift: The Tata Punch EV, a strong performer in the compact electric SUV segment, is also due for a facelift. Continuing with the existing 25kWh and 35kWh battery options, the Punch is expected to receive refreshed styling and an enhanced feature list.
 
Tata Avinya: Outsourced from Jaguar Land Rover’s EMA platform, the Tata Avinya will mark the brand’s entry into the luxury electric space. The Avinya X concept showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 received strong appreciation, with production models expected toward the end of the year.
 
Tata Safari EV: Tata Motors is also preparing to launch the Safari EV, which will share its platform and powertrain with the outgoing Harrier EV. The electric SUV has already been spotted testing alongside the Sierra EV, with more details expected closer to launch.
 
Tata Tiago EV Facelift: The Tiago EV will receive its second facelift since its 2022 debut. Continuing with existing battery packs, the facelift Tiago EV will receive cosmetic updates, including minor exterior tweaks, new features, and a revised interior layout. The existing battery packs of 19.2kWh and 24kWh battery packs are offering claimed ranges of 223km and 293km, respectively.
 
Mahindra BE6 and XEV 9e to Get 70kWh Battery: Along with Tata Motors, another domestic carmaker, Mahindra, is also set to extend its electric  lineup. It is reported that the company will update its BE6 and XEV 9e models with  a new 70kWh battery pack, which first debuted on the XEV 9S. These 70kWh battery packs is claimed to offer a range of up to 600km, and will bridge the gap between the existing 59kWh and 79kWh options, allowing Mahindra to cater to a wider range of customers.
 
While official launch timelines remain unannounced, these upcoming EVs underline the aggressive push by Tata Motors and Mahindra to dominate India’s rapidly evolving electric vehicle market.
