Skoda Launches Kylaq With Aggressive Price Of Rs 7.89 lakh Ex-Showroom

Skoda India has finally launched its latest initiative the compact SUV, Kylaq in the Indian car market with a starting price of Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The Indian alliance of Czech car maker will start receiving the bookings of the new SUV on December 2, 2024, and start the delivery from January 27, 2025, next year. The SUV will also be showcased during the Bharat Mobility Show, slated to be held in January 2025.

With the launch of Kylaq, the carmaker wants to strengthen its position in the compact SUV segment of the Indian car market and wants to sell 1,00,000 units every year. The SUV’s name, “Kylaq,” was selected through a pan-India contest. It pays homage to Mount Kailash and carries the meaning “crystal” in Sanskrit, aligning with Skoda’s SUV naming tradition seen with models like the Kushaq and Kodiaq, and symbolizing the brand’s Czech crystal heritage.
 
Developed on the company’s new Built on Skoda’s new “Modern Solid” design philosophy, the Kylaq features a sleek front grille with split LED headlamps. Outsourcing the same looks from elder sibling Kushaq, the Kylaq has an 85mm shorter wheelbase and a total length of 3,995mm.
 
Under the hood, Kylaq is powered by a 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, generating 115 bhp and 178Nm of torque. It can touch the mark from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.5 seconds, making it the fastest SUV to touch this mark in its segment. Inside the cabin, the Kylaq adorns a contemporary dashboard, an 8-inch digital display, and a 10-inch touchscreen. The list of notable features includes wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a sunroof, keyless entry, and ventilated front seats. Not to forget the front seats including both the driver and the passenger seats have the power-adjusted facility, which is not available in other SUVs. 
 
Speaking about other interior features, to offer a comfortable seating experience to rear seat passengers, Kylaq comes with substantial space. The 446-litre boot allows to store enough luggage. The split-folding rear seats offer extra space for storage. Developed on MQB-A) IN platform, the 5-Star NCAP awarded SUV comes equipped with safety features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and more. After launch in the Indian car market, the Kylaq will compete against Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet. To expand its reach the company is also ramping up its service network to cover more cities and towns across India.
