Repair and Maintenance on DND Flyway Scheduled for Next Two Months

The busy traffic corridor between Noida and Delhi will undergo major maintenance work for the next two months. This is expected to disturb the commuters moving between these two cities daily for the next two months. According to officials, the Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited (NTBCL), which manages the 9.2 km DND Flyway, has initiated a second rehabilitation phase that will involve resurfacing, embankment work and other infrastructure upgrades.

It is reported that the task of repairing the flyway will be performed in two shifts, from 11 pm to 6 am and again from 12 noon to 4 pm. During this period, two lanes out of four lanes will be closed while the remaining two lanes remain open to traffic.  In the words of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pravin Ranjan Singh, “Delhi-to-Noida” carriageway will be taken up first, followed by work on the “Noida-to-Delhi” side. He warned that despite efforts to minimise disruption, commuters may still face delays — particularly during the evening rush hours when traffic volumes are highest on this corridor.

Officials have also advised drivers to begin their movement from these routes quite early, before reaching their desired destination. The official has also recommended that commuters use alternate routes such as Kalindi Kunj and the Chilla Border to bypass potential congestion on the flyway. This rehabilitation effort is the second major project undertaken on the flyway in recent years. The current phase carries an estimated cost of around Rs 6 crore and covers about an 8-km stretch of both carriageways with micro-surfacing, shoulder maintenance and embankment protection. The work is expected to be completed by December or early January.

The DND Flyway, initially inaugurated in February 2001, serves as a vital link between Noida’s Sector 16/15 and Delhi’s Ring Road near Maharani Bagh and handles over 200,000 commuters daily. As preparations begin for the repair work, traffic officials will be deployed at key junctions to manage the flow and reduce bottlenecks. They emphasise that though the restricted hours aim to limit peak-hour disruption, drivers should remain alert to changed traffic patterns and allow for sufficient travel time.

For commuters who regularly use the flyway during their daily commute, especially during the evening hours, this maintenance drive may cause slower travel and delays. Authorities recommend avoiding non-urgent trips during the restricted time frames and considering alternate travel routes where feasible.
