Nissan to launch SUV on Renault Duster platform
These days it’s so easy for any car maker to build any segment car which his own lineup does not hold. The formula is simple, enter into a tie-up or partnership with the desired company, a sharing of thoughts and platform will come into picture along with some more give and takes and you have got the car you wanted in your stable.
Taking forward the fashion of re-badging nowadays, are Nissan and Renault, under their strategic partnership worldwide. After sharing the platform of ‘Nissan Micra’ for creating ‘Renault Pulse’, now its Nissan’s turn to share the base of Renault’s upcoming Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Duster, in order to make a Nissan badged five-seater SUV. Renault Duster is a compact SUV and is scheduled to bang the Indian doors in the first quarter of 2012.

Renault is a Paris-France based automaker while Nissan comes from Yokohama-Japan, and both individual companies are in a strategic alliance since the year 1999.
If the auto industry rumors are to be believed it states that Renault plans to launch a C segment car similar to that of Nissan Sunny after second quarter of 2012. The most benefitted; among the two, between all these sharing will be Renault, as Nissan is now an established here in India, hence the French auto maker has no worries for after sales service as it will rely on Japanese car maker.

In the recent times the industry has come across many works of rebadging of vehicles among the companies for instance Volkswagen Vento- Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Polo-Skoda Fabia, and the current Nissan Micra-Renault Pulse. Although the platform sharing and rebadging works wonders for the companies in terms of sales and after sales services, but if done in excess it may lead a vehicle to lose its unique identity.
