New Toyota Fortuner launched, improved engine, awesome looks

Toyota’s best selling SUV – Toyota Fortuner has got a new avatar in Indonesia. The new Fortuner price is RP 387 million that goes around Rs 22.5 lakh in Indian currency. Taking a quick look at the features of the new Fortuner, it feels as if the new Toyota Fortuner has been made more macho with the new air intake space on the bonnet. The overall styling is close to the new Toyota Innova as well but the original looks of the Fortuner have been greatly preserved. In India the Fortuner price starts at Rs 20 lakh and goes up to Rs 22 lakh for the high end model that comes fitted with Leather Transfer Case knob and Vehicle Stability Control besides a lot of other features such as cruise control, ABS, EBD and Alloy wheels.

The Indonesian launch of the new Fortuner has been done in association with the local partner PT Astra International. The new Fortuner has new and more powerful engine under the hood besides a lot of other visible features changes. The new model of the Toyota car has a performance boosted 2.5 l k-FTV Turbo diesel engine that has 144 PS power delivery and a peak torque of 343 Nm. Compared to the outgoing generation, the new Fortuner has a performance boost ranging from 32 percent to 40 percent. It is available in 4X2 and 4X4 models besides the Automatic transmission model as well.

Back in India, the Fortuner is a close rival of Ford Endeavour which is priced between Rs 17.90 lakh to Rs 20.85 lakh besides a lot of other SUVs in this segment including Maruti Grand Vitara, Chevrolet Captiva, Mitsubishi Outlander, Mitsubishi Pajero and car from its Japanese rival Nissan Xtrail. The new version has helped the Fortuner get a fresh impetus in India and it is expected that the new Toyota car will be able to bring the same in Indonesia as well.
