New Toyota Fortuner SUV launched at Rs 19.9 lakh
Year 2012 like last year is expected to be the year when there will be an increase in demand for SUVs in India. Sensing this Toyota has tied its seat belts for the show and has launched the new Toyota Fortuner here at the Delhi Auto Expo. The grand SUV made an awesome entry that literally awed the visitors and media personnel present at the Toyota camp at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The 2012 Toyota Fortuner is priced at INR 19.99 lakh for base variant 4X2 manual, while the 4X2 with automatic transmission comes at INR 20.69 lakh along with 4X4 manual is tagged INR 20.99 lakh. All the prices mentioned are ex-showroom Delhi. With this price one can expect that new Toyota Fortuner would give a close call to its rival such as Ford Endeavour and Mitsubishi Pajero.

It was none less than a ritual when people gathered round the stage where the 2012 Toyota Fortuner was to walk in and gradually it came like an incarnation. All eyes were on the new Toyota Fortuner and everybody was desperately trying to find the changes made to the new car. It is after giving a close look that the changes will be visible. The front of the new Fortuner has been freshly redesigned with sleek headlamps and projector lights. There are now visible headlamp washers that ensure that no dirt comes in the way of the visibility of the road. Besides, the front grille has got a new shape with new fog lamps on the bumpers. The new Fortuner also has new 12-spoke 17-inch alloys. Overall, the new Fortuner has a front look more like the big brother Toyota Land Cruiser. The rear on the other hand seems to have new twin-circular shaped clear lens type lamps.
Apart from the changes to the exteriors and on the inside, the new Fortuner will also be available in a four speed automatic version with a 3L 171PS CRDI engine in place. This automatic transmission is priced similar to the manual transmission based new Fortuner as there is only rear wheel drive in this.
