Maruti Suzuki Records Highest Sales in January 2026
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, on Monday, announced that it has recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in January 2026 with the total sales of 2,36,963. It is for the first time in the history of the country’s largest carmaker crossing the two-lakh sales mark in a single month. According to the company sources, during the month of January, it sold 1,78,300 units in the domestic car market, registering a marginal growth of 0.34 per cent compared to 1,77,688 units sold in January 2025. Exports, however, witnessed a sharp surge, rising 88.26 per cent year-on-year to 51,020 units, reflecting strong demand in overseas markets. Sales to other OEMs contributed an additional 7,643 units during the same period.

Segment-Wise Performance
In the Mini segment, which includes models such as the Alto and S-Presso, Maruti Suzuki sold 14,268 units in January 2026. This segment reported a marginal growth of 0.14 per cent compared to 14,247 units sold in January last year.
The Compact segment, comprising popular models like the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR, recorded sales of 72,738 units. However, the segment saw a decline of 11.5 per cent from 82,241 units sold in January 2025.
Sales in the Utility Vehicle (UV) segment showed strong improvement. Maruti Suzuki sold 75,609 units across models, including the Brezza, Fronx, Ertiga, Victoris, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6. This marked a 16.15 per cent year-on-year growth, up from 65,093 units sold in January 2025.
The Vans segment, the Eeco, recorded the sales of 11,914 units, reflecting a growth of nearly six per cent compared to 11,250 units sold in the same month last year.
Meanwhile, the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segment, consisting of the Super Carry, recorded sales of 3,771 units, witnessing a 7.77 per cent decline from 4,089 units sold in January 2025.
Electric Push on the Horizon
The strong sales performance is witnessed after Maruti Suzuki showcased its first fully electric SUV, the e-Vitara. The automaker is expected to announce the pricing details of the electric SUV later this year, marking a significant step in its electric mobility roadmap.
