Maruti Suzuki Ignis: New details revealed officially by Japanese car maker

Year 2015 had been an year of mixed reviews for Indo-Japanese car maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited where it’s newly launched hatchback Baleno and integration of SHVS hybrid system in sedan Ciaz succeeded in receiving an encouraging response from Indian audiences. Its first cross-over S-Cross after receiving warm welcome at the time of its launched failed to impress its prospective buyers. Now with 13th edition of Indian Auto Expo 2016 knocking the door the car maker has some aggressive strategy for this year. The first product to come from the bag of car maker during this year is reported to be a sub-compact crossover Ignis which has been in highlight during couple of months. Recently the vehicle has been launched in Japanese by native car maker. Details of the same have been revealed in a video followed by its brochure which was release couple of days back. Although as the vehicle has been launched in Japanese car market the features and specifications have been revealed in Japanese language but still it is self explanatory.

In Japan the sub compact cross over SUV has been offered with single engine option of 1.3 litre petrol engine integrated with SHVS mild hybrid technology boosting the power of 89.75 bhp followed by extra power of 3 bhp generated by electronic machine. The engine has been offered with CVT transmission system as standard feature on all variants. As far as Indian car market is concerned it is expected to be offered with engine options of petrol and diesel comprising of 1.2 litre and 1.3 litre respectively which is same as offered in Baleno and Swift hatchbacks. After launch in India it will compete against Mahindra KUV100 and other in same segment. 

Moving towards the features offered in Ignis, according to features revealed in video it is equipped with couple of new features that are not offered by other vehicles in segment. To name few it receives 4 WD option, adaptive dual camera breaking system, ABS+EBD (standard with all trims), followed by option of co-passenger air bag on entry level variants, hill decent control, lane management system supported with front, side and rear camera as parking assistants. Inside the cabin it receives newly developed dashboard, apart from this along with regular features the worth mentioning feature offered inside Ignis is adjustment of rear seats which can adjusted to three levels by making an appropriate use of enlarged boot space.
