Maruti Suzuki Fronx Turbocharged Variant Offered At Huge Discount

Since its entrance into the Indian car market, Maruti Suzuki's Fronx has emerged as a game-changer for the Indo-Japanese automaker. According to media reports the compact crossover has achieved a significant milestone, crossing the one lakh sales mark within just 10 months of its launch. This remarkable success has raised Maruti Suzuki's share of the SUV segment to 19.7 per cent in the calendar year 2023, marking a substantial surge from 10.4 per cent in calendar Year 2022.

In a bid to further bolster its sales performance, the company has rolled out enticing benefits on the Maruti Fronx turbo petrol variants. Customers can avail themselves of a cash discount of up to Rs 60,000 along with an exchange bonus of Rs 10,000. However, no such offers are offered on the naturally aspirated petrol variants of the compact crossover.

Under the hood, the Fronx offers two engine options: a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine delivering 99bhp with 148Nm of torque, and a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 89bhp with 113Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and an AMT unit.

According to media reports, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to introduce a new hybrid system, codenamed HEV, with the Fronx facelift anticipated in 2025. This innovative powertrain setup will incorporate Suzuki's Z12E 3-cylinder petrol engine, slated for debut in the new-gen Swift hatchback. Paired with a battery pack ranging from 1.5kWh to 2kWh and an electric motor, this hybrid system will be integrated into Maruti Suzuki's forthcoming mass-market vehicles, including the new-generation Baleno (in 2026), Spacia-based mini MPV (in 2026), Swift (in 2027), and new-gen Brezza (in 2029).

To differentiate its hybrid technology from Toyota's robust hybrid technology, Maruti Suzuki's new hybrid system will adopt a series configuration, deemed optimal for enhancing performance in stop-and-go traffic scenarios while providing a cost-effective solution. While specifics regarding the 2025 Maruti Fronx facelift remain undisclosed, anticipations point toward subtle updates both internally and externally, alongside the introduction of the new hybrid powertrain.
