Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara Records Strong Global Sales

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, the first electric vehicle from the Indo-Japanese carmaker has made its strong presence in the global market, before its launch in India. According to reports, the company has exported more than 7,000 units of the e-Vitara, to international markets during August and September 2025. The made-in-India electric SUV has reached customers across 12 European nations, underscoring the company’s expanding global footprint.

The e-Vitara, first showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, is slated for an official India launch in December 2025. Exports began from the Pipavav Port in Gujarat, with 2,900 units shipped in August to key markets such as the UK, Germany, Norway, France, Denmark, Switzerland, and others. September witnessed another 3,168 units dispatched, with additional shipments continuing into October.

Strong overseas demand signals Maruti Suzuki’s successful entry into the international EV market. Suzuki Motor Corporation confirmed that the e-Vitara will eventually be exported to over 100 countries, establishing the Hansalpur manufacturing facility in Gujarat as the global production hub. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 26, 2025, the plant features a multimodal cargo terminal, offering direct port connectivity for large-scale exports.

Built on Suzuki’s HEARTECT-e platform, the e-Vitara is powered by a 3-in-1 electric powertrain and offers two battery pack choices — a 49 kWh variant producing 142 bhp and a 61 kWh option generating 172 bhp. The higher variant includes an all-wheel-drive setup with dual motors, delivering 181 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, and claims a range of up to 500 km per charge. For the Indian market, the e-Vitara will be equipped with Level 2 ADAS, a 10.25-inch infotainment display, 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera. Safety features include seven airbags and an electronic parking brake. Positioned in the mid-size electric SUV segment, it will compete against the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, and MG ZS EV.
