Mahindra To Empower EV Charging With 250 Ultrafast Stations
To strengthen India’s electric charging infrastructure, the domestic carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra has announced that it will establish 250 ultrafast EV charging stations equipped with 180 kW dual-gun chargers, offering over 1,000 charging points by the end of 2027. This initiative is part of Mahindra’s long-term vision to UNLIMIT electric mobility through its Charge_IN ultrafast charging network. This announcement is in line with the government of India’s objective to expand public charging infrastructure and encourage people towards EV adoption.

First Charge-IN Stations Inaugurated on Key Highways
The company has already inaugurated its first two Charge_IN stations at Hoskote on the Bengaluru–Chennai highway (NH 75) and at Murthal on NH 44, located around 50 km from Delhi. Both stations include two ultra-fast chargers capable of charging four electric vehicles at the same time. The installation of these charging stations is an achievement in Mahindra’s mission to build India’s high-speed EV charging backbone.
Mahindra Aims to Build Confidence in Long-Distance EV Travel
Speaking about the initiative, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division and Executive Director of Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd., highlighted the broader goal of promoting sustainable mobility. He said, “Electric mobility is about driving a larger shift towards cleaner, sustainable transportation. XEV 9e and BE 6, with their impressive 500 km real-world range, ensure drivers feel confident on long journeys. Meanwhile, with our ultrafast charging network by Charge_IN, we will be creating an open and accessible network for all EV users. Our aim is to make long-distance travel with an electric vehicle effortless and reliable like conventional driving, thereby building customer confidence and accelerating India's transition to electric mobility.”
Ultrafast Charging for Mahindra's eSUV Portfolio
The Charge_IN network will be powered entirely by 180 kW ultrafast dual-gun chargers, for rapid and reliable four-wheeler charging. These chargers can power Mahindra’s upcoming eSUV portfolio—XEV 9e, BE 6, and XEV 9S—from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes. This capability is expected to reduce the concern of vehicle discharging during the journey and enhance the feasibility of long trips in electric vehicles.
Strategic Placement Along Major Highways
To ensure convenience for EV users, Charge_IN stations will be strategically installed over all major highways across the country. To further enhance a smooth driving experience on highways, each charging station will have restaurants, cafés, and other essential amenities, allowing travellers to take short breaks while their EV is fast-charged.
Easy Accessibility Through Me4U and Charge_IN Apps
Mahindra eSUV customers will be able to locate, charge, and pay at Charge_IN stations through the company’s Me4U app, which currently offers access to nearly 34,000 public charging points across multiple Charge Point Operators. It would be important to note that apart from the owners of Mahindra EVs, owners of other EV brands can charge their EVs. Importantly, the new Charge_IN fast-charging stations will also be accessible to users of other EV brands, who can charge their vehicles through the “Charge_IN by Mahindra” app and major aggregator platforms, ensuring an inclusive charging ecosystem.
