Kia Syros Details Out: Launching On December 19, 2024
Kia India is all set to launch its fourth offering in the Indian car market, the Kia Syros SUV, on December 19, 2024. The Korean carmaker has promoted the Syros as “a new species of SUV,” highlighting its unique design and positioning in the Indian market. It is believed that the upcoming SUV will set a new benchmark in the SUV segment with its premium features. Just before the launch, the company has revealed several features of the Syros. The upcoming SUV will come with a push-button start/stop engine, 360-degree parking camera, wireless charger, and twin USB-C ports. The list of additional features will include a panoramic sunroof, terrain modes, and ambient lighting for improved driving experience.

Inside the cabin, the Syros will feature a dual-screen setup that includes a touchscreen infotainment system and a digital driver’s display. The infotainment system will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other premium touches include ventilated seats and ISOFIX child seat mounts. It is also speculated that the SUV will come with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and connected car technology.
Design: A Modern Yet Distinct Approach:
The Kia Syros is the first India-made SUV developed on Kia’s Design 2.0 philosophy under its Kia 2.0 strategy. The design is inspired by the larger EV9 SUV, which was launched earlier this year. The Syros will feature an RV-inspired architecture similar to the Kia Carens but will maintain a bold SUV stance. The front fascia will sport vertical LED DRLs, a robust front bumper, and a muscular fascia, giving it a strong presence on the road. On the rear side, Syros will come with wrap-around L-shaped LED taillights that extend into the roofline, adding a futuristic touch.
Engine Options and Specifications:
The Kia Syros will share its engine lineup with the Kia Sonet. It will come with two engine options:
A 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque.
A 1.5-litre diesel engine generates 116 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.
Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual gearbox, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT). Additionally, Kia is likely to offer a 6-speed iMT gearbox as an option. The Syros will be positioned between Kia’s entry-level Sonet and the mid-size Seltos, offering a unique proposition in the sub-compact SUV space. While its dimensions will align with sub-4 metre SUVs, the Syros is expected to target a more premium audience with its feature-rich offerings.
The Kia Syros will compete with established rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and the upcoming Skoda Kylaq. With its distinctive design, premium features, and competitive specifications, the Kia Syros is expected to make a significant mark in India’s SUV segment.
