JSW MG Motor the Indian alliance of the Japanese carmaker MG Motors has officially launched its highly anticipated premium electric MPV, the M9, in India. With the starting price of Rs 69.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the M9 is available in a single. Earlier the carmaker had showcased the luxurious electric MPV during the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo.

 

 

Offered under MG’s luxury arm, MG Select, the M9 has received mixed reactions across the market. Where some praised its futuristic design pattern, others raised questions about its efficiency of masses, particularly due to its sizeable footprint and premium pricing. However, despite criticism, the MG M9 has managed to capture attention with its bold and boxy design, featuring sharp LED elements at both the front and rear. The highlight is its connected LED light bar at the back, giving the MPV a contemporary look.

 

The MPV has the combination of luxurious looks and latest technical features including power-sliding rear doors and a three-row seating layout that comfortably accommodates up to seven passengers. The list of other notable features include dual sunroofs, three-zone automatic climate control, and a 12.23-inch touchscreen infotainment system equipped with wireless smartphone connectivity and advanced car tech. Under the hood, the MG M9 is powered by a 90 kWh Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) battery, producing 245 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. The MPV delivers an impressive range of up to 500 km on a single charge, making it as a strong contender in the growing electric MPV segment.

 

With its feature-rich package and bold styling, the MG M9 aims to redefine luxury travel in the electric vehicle space. However, only time will tell whether this apartment-sized EV can truly create a niche in India’s evolving automotive market.
