Indian Auto Expo 2016: Maruti Suzuki Vitara to be offered only in diesel
Arrival of Indian Auto Expo 2016 is getting closer with each passing day and with that car makers have also started opening their cards for the show. The recent news is coming from the office of country’s premium car maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited which is working on unveiling its new sub 4 meter compact SUV code named as Vitara Brezza along with compact cross over Ignis during the show. The latest report is however associated with compact SUV Vitara Brezza according to which Vitara will be offered only in diesel variant enriched with 1.3 litre diesel engine as against earlier reports of launching Vitara Brezza in both petrol and diesel variants.
The diesel variant will comprise of 1.3 litre four cylinder DDiS engine boosting the poer of 75 PS and torque of 190Nm. Outsourced from Italian car maker Fiat the engine is also offered in other siblings of Vitara varying from Ritz to recently launched S-Cross. According company sources the petrol variant of 1.5 litre petrol engine in Vitara Brezza will be offered in International market. It is speculated that after launching diesel variant of Vitara in Indian car market, Indo-Japanese car maker may also launch the same in India in future.
It would be interested to know that design of Vitara has been result of hard research carried for three and half years by R&D of MSIL. MSIL has high expectations from Vitara and speculates to sale about 10K units monthly in Indian car market. It is expected to be priced in range varying from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 8 lakh (Ex-showroom).
