India’s PV Sales Drop 6.38% YoY in June 2025
The data of passenger vehicle sales in India might look growing with 3,17,757 units sold in June 2025, but compared to YoY sales it has declined by 6.38%. According to reports, the segment recorded the sales of 3,39,418 units in June 2024. Where these results have developed the lines of tension on the heads of several car manufacturers, some have managed to retain their growth pattern.
Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading carmaker, retained its top position with 1,18,906 units sold, however, it also witnessed a sharp decline of 13.31% drop compared to 1,37,160 units in June 2024.

Mahindra, the domestic carmaker continued to move on the path of growth registering 47,306 units – an 18.20% YoY growth from 40,022 units sold in the previous year.
Hyundai and Tata Motors witnessed double-digit declines, selling 44,024 units (-12.13%) and 37,083 units (-14.80%) respectively. However, Toyota posted a modest 2.72% YoY gain, selling 26,453 units compared to 25,752 units in June last year.
Other key performers included MG Motor, which reported a robust 25.52% increase to 5,829 units, and Skoda, which nearly doubled its sales to 5,014 units, marking a significant 95.40% jump. Meanwhile, Kia India reported 20,625 units, reflecting a 3.17% decline year-on-year.
Honda Cars India saw a marginal dip of 3.87%, selling 4,618 units, while Volkswagen sales fell by 5.25% to 3,089 units. Renault experienced a substantial 26.12% drop in sales, with a total of 2,625 units sold in June 2025.
On the lower end of the volume spectrum, Nissan reported 1,313 units, down 37.68% YoY, while Citroen showed a sharp 79.94% increase with 610 units sold. Jeep India reported a minor decline of 6.76%, selling 262 units in June.
Month-on-Month Performance Reflects Further Contraction
On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, the PV segment declined 9.14% from 3,49,713 units in May 2025. Maruti Suzuki’s volumes dropped 12.54% from 1,35,962 units sold in May. Mahindra also saw a 9.77% drop from 52,431 units in the previous month.
While Hyundai posted a slight MoM increase of 0.37%, selling 44,024 units in June, Tata Motors recorded a 10.77% fall. Toyota and Kia also experienced declines of 9.66% and 7.57% respectively.
In contrast, Honda Cars India registered a 16.91% MoM gain, with 4,618 units sold compared to 3,950 in May. Volkswagen sales rose by 8.46%, and Renault saw a 4.92% increase. Notably, Citroen almost doubled its performance from May, posting an impressive 83.18% growth with 610 units sold. Jeep, however, continued to face challenges with a 5.07% drop in monthly sales.
Despite mixed performances across brands, the overall market trend in June points to cautious consumer sentiment and supply-side challenges, impacting industry volumes on both YoY and MoM metrics.
