Honda Accord Hybrid to Launch in India during 2016 Festive Season
It is reported that Indian subsidiary of Japanese carmaker Honda will be introducing the highly awaited all-new Accord in Indian car market during the 2016 festive season, however the official launch date of Accord Hybrid is not yet disclosed by carmaker but the launch of same in India during the upcoming festive season was confirmed by Mr. Yoichiro Ueno, President and CEO, Honda Cars India during a dealership inauguration event.
Earlier, Honda showcased the same version of Accord during the 2016 Auto Expo and after that sedan was spied several times on Indian roads during its test drives. Apart from hybrid version, Japanese carmaker is also planning to launch non-Hybrid version of Honda Accord too in Indian Market, which was discontinued in the year 2013 due to poor sales.
In its ninth generation, the heart of Accord hybrid will be powered by a 2.0-liter Atkinson Cycle I-VTEC four-cylinder engine coupled with two electric motors which will be linked to an E-CVT unit and a 1.3 kW lithium ion battery that jointly develops the power of 213bhp and fuel efficiency of 23.8kmpl. Apart from this next generation accord features re-designed bumper, newly developed front grille with thick chrome plate giving an aggressive and dynamic appearance to the vehicle. Inside the cabin it might be embellished with a sport wood and piano black color schemes featuring the new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot, heated seats, etc.
Brought in India via CBU route, the saloon is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 22 Lakh – Rs. 30 Lakh. Once launched, Honda Accord Hybrid will be facing competition from the Toyota Camry Hybrid.
