FasTag Annual Pass Receives Overwhelming Response

The recently launched FASTag Annual Pass scheme by MoRTH has received an encouraging response from car owners. According to a statement issued by MoRTH, the applications for the annual pass have surpassed the five lakh mark within four days of its rollout on August 15, 2025. The FASTag Annual Pass, priced at Rs 3,000, allows for 200 trips on national highways annually, effectively reducing the cost to Rs 15 per trip. The initiative has received an overwhelming response from car owners across the country. The annual pass scheme aims to make toll payments more convenient and economical.

According to MoRTH, Tamil Nadu has recorded the maximum number of buyers since the launch, followed by Karnataka and Haryana. Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh also recorded the highest number of transactions at toll plazas through the new annual pass facility. It is reported that on the very first day of the launch, around 1.4 lakh users had purchased the pass till 7:00 pm.

The Rajmargyatra mobile application, which enables users to purchase the FASTag Annual Pass, has also witnessed a surge in popularity. Over 15 lakh downloads were registered in the last few days, pushing the app to the second spot in the travel category on Google Play Store, and making it the top-ranking government app at present.  The annual pass is currently valid at about 1,150 toll plazas on national highways and expressways across India. However, it does not apply to state highways or state-operated expressways. Designed exclusively for private car owners, the pass is not available for commercial vehicles.

The officials of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways believe that the scheme is expected to boost seamless travel on highways. It will also offer relaxation from the tension of frequent FASTag recharges. The ministry believes the initiative will significantly enhance user experience and encourage wider adoption of digital toll payment systems.
