Buying Maruti Suzuki Cars To Get Costlier From April 8, 2025
The Indo-Japanese carmaker Maruti Suzuki has officially announced a hike in the prices of its entire range from April 8, 2025. According to reports, as an impact of this price hike, buying Maruti Suzuki cars will be costlier up to Rs 62,000, which will be according to the company's earlier statement regarding a price revision of up to 4%. In a statement from the company, it regarded rising input costs, higher operational expenses, and the addition of new features as the primary reasons for the hike. Among the different models which will be affected by this hike, the Grand Vitara will witness the highest price increase, with costs rising by up to Rs 62,000 across its variants. The Eeco van will also see a notable hike of Rs22,500, whereas the popular WagonR hatchback will get Rs 14,000 costlier.

The company's MPV lineup, including the Ertiga and XL6, will experience a price increase of Rs12,500. The subcompact Fronx SUV will see the lowest price hike of Rs 2,500. In the commercial segment, the Tour S, a sedan based on the Dzire, will see prices rise by Rs 3,000, while other models in Maruti Suzuki’s commercial vehicle range remain unaffected for now.
Maruti Suzuki Reports Growth in FY 2024-25 Sales
In financial results for FY 2024-25, Maruti Suzuki India reported total sales of 2,234,266 units, marking a 4.63% growth compared to 2,135,323 units in the previous fiscal year. Domestic retail sales saw a marginal increase of 0.05%, reaching 1,760,767 units compared to 1,759,881 units last year. The utility vehicle segment, which includes models like the Grand Vitara, Brezza, and Fronx, registered a strong 12.12% year-on-year (YoY) growth, reaching 720,186 units. However, the passenger car segment, featuring popular models like the Alto K10, Dzire, Swift, and Ciaz, witnessed a 7.7% decline YoY, dropping to 904,909 units.
Maruti Suzuki also achieved a major milestone in exports, crossing the three lakh mark. In FY 2024-25, the company exported 332,585 units, reflecting a 17.49% YoY increase from 283,067 units in the previous year. According to Hisashi Takeuchi, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the company accounted for 43% of India's total car exports, cementing its position as the leading passenger vehicle exporter. During the fiscal year, Maruti Suzuki also began exporting the Fronx and Jimny 5-door models to Japan. The top five export destinations for the brand were South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Japan, and Mexico.
