All New Volkswagen Jetta set for India launch

Volkswagen India is set to launch the 2011 version of the Volkswagen Jetta sedan on August 17. The new Jetta is significantly bigger than its precursor, with the car’s front resembling the Volkswagen Golf hatchback. The German auto giants also revealed that the VW Jetta is totally unique and does not share anything with the Golf.

The 2011 VW Jetta to be launched in India is likely to come with a 1.8 TSI and a 2.0 TDI engine. The 2.0 TDI with 140bhp power is expected to be the probable choice with the VW India. The 1.8TSI even if launched will not be expected of getting the same success as that to the Diesel version.

Volkswagen may present option of a manual as well as a six-speed DSG gearbox along with the VW’s BlueMotion feature. Some other features that maybe present are Low Rolling Resistance Tires and the DSG Slush Box. With a 7cm longer wheelbase than the previous version, the 2011 VW Jetta packs greater legroom. The overall length of the car exceeds by 9 cm to its predecessor. The bigger dimensions of the car thus release more space, which is vital as the 2011 VW Jetta is set to compete against the Toyota Corolla Altis and the Honda Civic.

The interiors of the car are unique, same as the exterior as suggestive to the VW Golf. Built quality is definitely expected to be of top standards with the use of high quality materials as expected from the Volkswagen. Pricing of the 2.0TDI is thought that to be around the same as that of the current model.

Some of the popular hatchback models in the Indian auto market are Ford Figo, Maruti SwiftHyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo. Apart from these popular models, cars going to hit the Indian roads this year are Toyota Etios Liva, Maruti Cervo and New Ford Fiesta.
