50,000 Mahindra Thar Booked In 6 Months
Domestic carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra had launched the second generation of Thar SUV on October 2, 2020 and received an encouraging response from the Indian buyers. Now according to a statement given by the company it has received more than 50,000 bookings of the Thar SUV after its launch. Expressing his happiness on the achievement Mr Veejay Nakra, Chief Executive Office, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd said, “The new Mahindra Thar has surpassed all expectations of the company.” The SUV is being appraised for its rugged looks, powerful engines, better off-road driving abilities, and contemporary interiors.

The success of Thar can be understood from the fact that at present it is having a waiting period of 11 months and this number is increasing regularly. However, to reduce the waiting period the company is working hard to increase its production at its unit located at Nasik in Maharashtra. According to the sources of the company the new Thar celebrates the brands successful existence of seven decades in the Indian car market.
Under the hood, the Mahindra Thar comes equipped with two engine options of a 2.0-litre petrol engine generating the power of 152 bhp, and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine. Its price starts from Rs 12.10 lakh and goes high up to Rs 14.15 lakh for the top-end variant. Both the prices are ex-showroom prices. The transmission duties in both the variants are offered with an option of six-speed manual gearbox and six-speed automatic gearbox system. All the variants are equipped with a 4x4 driving system with a manual-shift transfer case with a low ratio.
It is rumored that the company is speculating to introduce a new variant in the line-up of Thar which would be offered with a new removable two-piece roof with three segments and new rear screen mounts. This new trim might also be equipped with a new 180m Stallion Pro Turbo engine. Along with this the company will also introduce three new colours including Olive, White, and Silver. In its new avatar the Thar received 4 star safety rating in the Global NCAP test.
