2012 Mahindra Thar launch soon with improved interiors and AC
More than a year has passed since the sturdy crossover, Mahindra Thar was introduced on the domestic shores. This SUV comes in two in-line options, i.e. a 2.5 Liter direct injection turbo-diesel power-train and another 2.5 liter common rail turbo diesel in-line. The direct injection engine of this car has been shared from its sibling Bolero and is a BS III complaint. This engine type is mainly for the rural areas where the emission norms are not much restricted, while its another CRDe in-line is a BS IV compliant caters the off-road experience to the passionate enthusiasts. However, its fans are not much impressed with its interior build.

Even the top end variant, Thar 4X4 that comes powered by 2.5 liter CRDe in-line and costs around 8 lakhs rupees lacks features like Air-conditioner and a hard top. Mahindra has taken all these feedbacks from the enthusiasts quite critically and now the auto-giant is all set to unveil the face-lifted Thar that will incorporate air conditioning, new dashboard and a hard top. Sources reveal that with these changes, the 2012 Thar might have increased price. Thar being a distinct animal from the crowd can be expected to sell like hot cakes with the added features, despite the price getting more.

Speculations are that the improved Thar might hit the shores in a month or two. The changes made in the 2012 Thar were quite necessary to make it a reliable machine for daily use, especially in the areas where the climate is usually hot and AC is much needed. In addition, the hard top on Mahindra Thar would work as an extra safety feature. Another setback of the Thar was its asymmetric and shabby interiors which would soon be improved with an all new dashboard.
