1.5 litre 3 cylinder petrol engine for bmw 1-series
The product strategy and management policy of BMW has now become more aggressive and if rumors are to be believed the BMW 1 Series is all set to get a major facelift. For the official unveiling of the premium hatchback BMW 1-Series we have to wait for the Frankfurt Motor show this September, however BMW has already revealed the 1 Series for customers and is gradually making the features and specifications public of its new favorite which is expected to be launched in the upcoming months. Also Mr. Klaus Draeger, BMW’s development boss gave affirmation for the production of new 1 Series at power plants.

All car manufacturers these days are focusing on the agenda of Fuel Efficiency Improvability and Reducing Carbon Emission. BMW too is aiming to offer 1 Series with improved petrol as well as diesel engines in the market. This new vehicle has a planned 1.5 litre, 3 cylinder engines which was previously used for the BMW 3 Series and will not be used now if we believe Draeger. The speculated architecture for the 1 Series is that of the front wheel drive and it will form its base. The Mini and the new 1 Series will be sharing the same form of platform.

The new engine is now available with reduced capacity which proves more beneficial and fruitful all due to the advanced capacity- to – surface- area ratio. The maximum power production of 54 bhp per cylinder is obtained which is equivalent to 162 horsepower from the new 1.5 litre petrol engine. Thus, is we look at the higher models a power output of 160 bhp is obtained. Hence we believe that the new BMW 1 Series is coming to India, but there are no official announcements made by the company.

The final price tag of the new BMW is still yet not decided but the main factors deciding its value would be the platform of the front- wheel drive type and the small capacity engines. BMW’s most nearest rival Mercedes Benz is also planning to launch the A class and the new B Class hatchbacks in Indian market thus to be in competition BMW will have to deliver the new 1 Series with the minimum price possible without much compromise in the riding quality.
