Tata Punch Facelift Launched with Turbo Engine and New Features

January 13, 2026: Tata Motors has launched the facelifted Tata Punch in India with prices starting at Rs5.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated model features a refreshed exterior design with revised lighting elements and new alloys, along with a modernised cabin inspired by the Punch EV. Key highlights include a larger touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, connected car tech, and a 360-degree camera. The line-up now also includes a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, while retaining its 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.

Tata Punch Looks

Exterior Design

The Tata Punch facelift is the best illustration of a micro-SUV that embellishes Tata Motors’ latest design philosophy and draws inspiration from models like the Altroz facelift, Punch EV, Nexon, and even the Safari. The front fascia gets the slimmer redesigned grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps, and sleek LED DRLs that double up as turn indicators give the Punch a more contemporary and premium appearance. The excessive use of black cladding on the bumper further strengthens its rugged SUV looks. It is something that has always been one of the Punch’s strongest visual traits.

The side profile remains unchanged, which seems not so noticeable due to the front side, which continues to look robust. The newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels, reminiscent of the Tata Safari’s design, add visual appeal, while thick wheel arches and door cladding enhance its SUV-like presence. Moving towards the rear portion, the connected LED tail lamps with a smoked finish modernise the look further, and the tweaked rear bumper neatly rounds off the design updates. Overall, the facelift doesn’t reinvent the Punch but makes it noticeably more mature and premium.

Interior Features

Inside the cabin, Tata has continued with the familiar dashboard layout but has updated it with noticeable changes. The new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo grabs the attention of passengers at first sight. A 7-inch digital driver’s display and an updated touchscreen infotainment system with slimmer bezels make the Punch stay in line with newer Tata models. The new dual-tone grey and blue seat upholstery adds freshness and improves the cabin ambience.

However, one of the most notable changes on the interior front is the replacement of physical AC controls with a touch-based climate control panel borrowed from the Punch EV. Whereas buttons for temperature and fan-speed are operated manually, other functions require touch inputs, which can be distracting while driving. As far as interior space is concerned, the Punch continues to be best suited for four occupants. Front seat comfort is good even for taller passengers, while the rear seat can accommodate two six-footers comfortably, though three passengers will feel cramped due to limited width.

Notable Interior Features and Technology

The Tata Punch facelift emerges as one of the most feature-rich vehicles in its segment. The major interior features include a large 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, a single-pane sunroof, wireless phone charging, an 8-speaker audio system, Type-C charging ports, cruise control, and keyless entry with push-button start. The presence of all features makes the Punch feel far more premium than existing Micro-SUVs in the Indian car market.

Boot Space and Practicality

With a boot capacity of 366 litres, the Punch offers sufficient space for weekend trips, accommodating a mix of suitcases and soft bags with ease. Even the CNG variants impress with a usable 210-litre boot, thanks to Tata’s dual-cylinder setup. This makes the Punch one of the more practical choices in its segment, even for buyers opting for CNG.

Engine Configuration

The facelift Punch continues to come with the existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 88 PS and 115 Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. This engine is best suited for relaxed city driving rather than enthusiastic performance. The CNG version offers lower running costs and is now also available with an AMT, improving convenience for urban buyers.

The biggest mechanical update is the introduction of a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine outsourced from the Nexon and Curvv. This engine produces the power of 120 PS and torque of 170 Nm. Paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, this engine is expected to offer an enhanced driving experience. However, this engine configuration is not suitable for buyers who prefer a fuel-efficient vehicle. The low fuel-efficiency is a typical feature of turbo-petrol engines. Variant-wise availability of engines remains selective, so buyers must choose carefully.

Safety Features

While developing the facelift Punch, Tata Motors has paid proper attention towards the integration of the latest safety features. Punch. Six airbags are now standard across all variants, which is a major plus. The addition of a 360-degree camera further improves ease of parking and manoeuvring in tight spaces. Other safety features include ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, and rear parking sensors. This comprehensive safety package reinforces Tata’s strong reputation in this area.
