French car giant Renault has launched its new Compact SUV in Indian Car market lately in 2011. The first sneak peak of the D- Segment car, Renault Koleos was given by Renault at the Delhi Auto Expo and it gathered an amazing responsive by future prospective buyers. Its first look made us confident that the Indian Car market in the SUV segment would now face a tough competition. The Renault Koleos even before its launch in market made a phenomenal entry.  

The exact engine configuration offered in Koleos include 2.0 litre diesel motor; the 2.0 litre, dCi, 1995c, Euro-4 common rail diesel rail powertrain pumps out maximum power of  150 hp. These engine configurations have a powerful displacement of 1995 cc. It would be capable of exhaling a Maximum power of 148 bhp at 4000 rpm, on an average with a peak toque of 319 Nm at 2000 rpm. The all new Renault Koleos stands tall with its 225/60 R17 alloy wheels but in comparison to its nearest rival Honda CR-V these are a bit small. It might come with a six- speed manual transmission gear box which is again a sheer cause of concern for Renault. It has a fuel tank capacity of 65 litres. The braking system is again superb with provision of front ventilated brakes and read disk brakes which will sores on safety point of view.

Examining the exteriors of Renault Koleos it gives us the impression of a large SUV ready to be unleashed and explored. The much awaited Renault Koleos is built on the body design similar to those of the Renault Koleos and Renault Egeus concept cars. The exterior looks are definitely mesmerising and anyone would fall for it. The front head lights are projected big and there are separate spaces on lower grill for fog lamps. Looking at the dimensions it sustains a total length of 4250 mm, having a Width of 1870 mm while standing tall amidst the ground at 1700mm. Discussing about the interiors Renault Koleos has a spacious seating capacity of 5 occupants. The front seats are electrically adjustable while it is designed by European designers so again tall occupants will fit with ease in it. The Air Conditioning system is amazing and is effective within seconds; it is again backed with a Climate Control feature which is now becoming a necessity in this segment of cars. The plush interiors increases it’s worth manifold. The music system is adorned with many features and it houses a precious Bose surround sound inbuilt audio system which proves amazing for music lovers. For long journeys the Rear Armrest is very comfortable and it comes loaded with cup holders.

Renault Koleos provides some best in class safety features, with dual air bags in front. It is expected to come with a remotely controlled Central Locking for the ease of owner. The Rear wiper is helpful in cleaning the back View in case of bad weather.

Renault Koleos Mileage and Fuel Efficiency

The Renault Koleos has a fair mileage performance being an SUV with a massively powerful engine with sheer displacement, the Koleos delivers a mileage around 14.5 Kmpl in the city and 16.5 Kmpl on the highways. The Variant with the automatic transmission support  is fairly low with 13.5 Kmpl in the city and 15.5 Kmpl on the highways. Overall the statistics for the Renault Koleos is fair and quite decent comparing it with its competitors like the Toyota Fortuner and Nissan X- Trail.

Diesel Engine

The Renault Koleos is empowered by the 2 l DCI Diesel Engine which is based on the Common Rail technology. The Engine holds a good displacement value of around 1995 cc and is capable of churning out a massive maximum power of about 165- 175 hp. The Engine would be well supportive of a six speed manual transmission and would generate a torque of around 370 Nm which is simply excellent. As far as the emission standards are concerned, the engine would be a Euro- IV.

Renault Koleos Pick Up and Acceleration

The 2 l DCI Diesel Engine of the Renault Koleos delivers a bashing power of about 175 bhp and generates a massive torque of around 370 Nm, quite excellent and super powerful, the engine also attains a pickup from 0- 100 Km/ h within a short span of just 12.4 seconds and attains a top speed of 190 Km/ h. The Engine is well supportive of a 6- speed manual transmission.
