With its muscular body, MG Hector has always maintained its commanding road presence, and the recently launched version continues to make a strong visual statement. Its large proportions, combined with premium design elements, ensure it stands out even from a distance. The signature grille remains the force of attraction of the front fascia, the chrome garnished finish further gives the Hector a distinctive identity. 

 

The front fascia is developed by sleek LED DRLs positioned above large split LED headlamps, along with a slim bumper that also features chrome detailing. The side profile becomes clearer due to its sheer size. The design is relatively clean with minimal creases, but chrome door handles and cladding provide contrast. The SUV rides on 18-inch six-spoke alloy wheels, which look proportionate, though slightly larger wheels could have enhanced its stance further. Lower variants come equipped with 17-inch wheels.

 

At the rear, the connected LED tail-lamp setup adds a modern touch and enhances visual width. Small creases on the tailgate and chrome accents on the bumper and badging maintain the premium theme. With the latest update, the rear bumper design looks cleaner and more cohesive than before. MG offers the Hector in five colour options—Pearl White, Glaze Red, Aurora Silver, Starry Black, and Celadon Blue—with Glaze Red and Starry Black standing out the most. Overall, the Hector looks premium and imposing, though a slightly restrained use of chrome could have elevated the design further.

 

Stepping inside the MG Hector strengthens its premium positioning. The cabin features a black-and-white theme with leatherette upholstery, creating an airy and sophisticated ambience. Soft-touch materials on the dashboard and door panels enhance the perceived quality, while chrome accents on the AC vents, door pads, and centre console mirror the exterior design language.

 

Ingress and egress are fairly easy, though the SUV’s height may require some effort for elderly passengers. Material quality is generally good, but certain elements around the centre console feel slightly flimsy and can move under light pressure. Despite this, the overall cabin experience feels well put together and justifies its pricing.

 

The MG Hector offers a height-adjustable driver’s seat and tilt-adjustable steering wheel as standard, making it easy to find a comfortable driving position. Top variants add telescopic steering adjustment for further flexibility. The front seats are spacious, supportive, and designed for long journeys. Powered seat adjustment and ventilation enhance comfort, though the light-coloured upholstery will require regular maintenance to stay clean. Visibility from the driver’s seat is excellent, thanks to wide windshields and a high seating position that provides a commanding view of the road. Blind spots are minimal, making city and highway driving confidence-inspiring.

 

Rear seat comfort is one of the MG Hector’s strongest attributes. It offers generous headroom, legroom, knee room, and under-thigh support. Three adults can sit comfortably without feeling cramped, and the reclining backrest adds to long-distance comfort. The Hector works particularly well as a chauffeur-driven SUV, allowing rear passengers to stretch out and relax. Large windows and the light cabin theme further enhance the sense of space, ensuring the rear seat never feels claustrophobic.

 

The Hector is well-equipped in terms of storage. It offers one-litre bottle holders in all doors, cupholders in the front and rear armrests, a sizeable glovebox, seatback pockets, and additional storage trays near the rear AC vents. These thoughtful touches make it practical for everyday use and long trips alike.

 

While the MG Hector may not offer the longest feature list in its segment, it covers all essential and premium requirements. Key features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, powered front seats, cruise control, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, keyless entry, and push-button start. The highlight of the cabin is the large 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This infotainment system functions like an Android tablet than a conventional screen. It enhances the cabin’s premium feel and supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. With the updated 10GB RAM, system responsiveness has improved noticeably, though minor lag still exists. Gesture controls allow users to adjust climate and media functions with simple swipes, reducing dependency on on-screen menus while driving. A 7-inch digital driver’s display provides all essential information and includes a dedicated ADAS section, though it does not display fuel efficiency data. The 360-degree camera system delivers clear visuals even in low-light conditions, and the blind-view monitor adds an extra layer of safety by displaying blind spot feeds when indicators are activated.

 

MG has not disclosed official boot capacity figures, but the Hector offers ample luggage space. It can comfortably accommodate a full set of trolley bags along with additional soft luggage. The 60:40 split rear seats fold flat to create a large cargo area when needed. A powered tailgate adds convenience, especially during loading and unloading.
