February 25, 2025: India’s leading car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India Limited is going to phase out its premium compact sedan Ciaz from its portfolio due to sluggish sales and increasing competition in the segment. Recent years have witnessed a dynamic increase in the SUV segment resulting decline in the sales of sedans like Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, Hyundai Verna and Skoda Slavia. According to reports, the Indo-Japanese carmaker now wants to focus on making its strong entrance in the electric vehicle segment which at present is flourishing at jet dynamic speed.
 

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: A Milestone of 3,00,000 Units Sold

 
September 14, 2021: The premium sedan from the Japanese carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited has achieved a milestone of selling 3,00,000 units after its launch in October 2014. The company had sold 1,50,000 units just in 30 months, and took 54 months to achieve the target of 3,00,000 units sales. The Ciaz is powered with a with a 102hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine mated with Maruti’s Smart Hybrid technology. The transmission duties include a five-speed manual gear transmission system and an option of a four-speed torque convertor gearbox.

March 26, 2019: The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz diesel with 1.5 litre diesel engine has been on the cards of MSIL from long time. The Ciaz diesel is going to make its debut during the month of January 2020, after the implementation of BS VI emission norms. Now, according to the recent reports the 1.5 litre diesel Ciaz will be offered with the six-speed manual gear transmission system which is not offered in any of its existing variants. The new engine is developed by the in-house engineers.

Nexa Dealers Commence The Bookings of 1.5 litre Diesel Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

 
February 7, 2019: According to recent reports, the Maruti Suzuki Nexa dealers have started receiving the bookings new 1.5 litre diesel Ciaz with the down payment of Rs. 10,000. The booking prices might vary, due to booking by the dealers at their own end. Under the hood, the new 1.5 litre diesel engine will replace the existing 1.3 litre DDiS 200 diesel engine, which is reported to phased out by the end of this year. The petrol diesel will continued to be offered with the existing 1.5 litre petrol engine.

Maruti Suzuki Launches Facelift Ciaz With The Price Tag Of Rs. 8.19 lakh

 
August 20, 2018: Indo-Japanese car maker Maruti Suzuk India Limited has launched the facelift version of Ciaz sedan in the Indian car market with the starting price of Rs. 8.19 lakh for petrol and Rs. 9.19 lakh for the diesel variant. As far as changes introduced in new Ciaz are concerned includes introduction of 1.5 litre petrol engine replacing the existing 1.4 litre engine, the diesel engine continues to be offered with existing engine configuration of 1.3 litre turbocharge engine. The major introduced in the facelift Ciaz are on the exterior front followed by few changes inside the cabin. It would not be wrong to say that new Ciaz looks quite different from its outgoing version.

August 7, 2018: Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country’s leading car maker has started the bookings of facelift Ciaz with the down payment ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000. The facelift Ciaz is slated for launch on August 20, 2018. According to reports apart from cosmetic updates the facelift Ciaz will also receive new 1.5 litre petrol engine supported with mild smart hybrid vehicle system technology, which would be for the first time introduced in any of the petrol vehicle launched by the Indo-Japanese car maker.

July 30, 2018: Country’s leading car maker MSIL has released the images of upcoming facelift Ciaz and has also confirmed its launch sometime during the next month. It is for the first time in the four years after its launch that Ciaz will undergo a facelift treatment. It is reported that along with a plethora of cosmetic updates on the interior and exterior front the facelift will also receive an upgraded engine configuration of 1.5 litre K series petrol engine, replacing the existing 1.4 litre petrol engine. 2017 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz to be sold through Nexa Showrooms

 
March 24, 2017: It is reported that the generation next Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sedan will be sold through Nexa showrooms across the country and therefore the variants like VDi, Zxi and LDi will be named as Sigma, Zeta, Delta and Alpha. It is also reported that the company will introduce one more variant “S” to replace the existing RS variant for making way to RS Baleno variant. Along with these variants the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will also be offered in Taxi variant that will be targeted for fleet operators. May 19, 2016: MSIL has reduced the prices of its best selling Ciaz Diesel SHVS due to decline on excise duty imposed by Delhi government from 24 percent to 12.5 percent. The new price of Ciaz Diesel SHVS now begins from Rs. 7.68 lakh (ex-showroom price, New Delhi) for base variant and goes high up-to Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom price, New Delhi) for top end variant.

MSIL upgrades ZXi+ version with automatic transmission system

 
February 26, 2016: MSIL has upgraded the top end variant of its mid-sized sedan Ciaz in Indian car market with four speed automatic transmission system. The automatic system introduced in ZXi+ version is similar to automatic transmission launched VXi and Zxi trims. Mechanically it continues 1373cc four cylinder engine churning the power of 91 bhp and torque of 130Nm at 6,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm respectively and will deliver an average of 19.12 kmpl.

October 20, 2015: Leading car maker MSIL has introduced one more variant in existing portfolio of sedan Ciaz. Named as Ciaz RS the new variant has been offered in both petrol and diesel SHVS Hybrid variants and priced Rs. 9.2 lakh and Rs. 10.28 lakh (ex-showroom price, New Delhi). The new features offered in RS variant includes front and side under spoilers, rear body spoiler and trunk boot opener. Inside the cabin also receives minute changes in form of black treatment followed by chrome garnish on instrument panel.

September 1, 2015: Finally Maruti Suzuki India Limited today launched its highly awaited SHVS version of its best selling sedan Ciaz in Indian car market with starting price of Rs. 8.23 lakh (ex-showroom price). With this hybrid version of Ciaz car maker has replaced the diesel trim of Ciaz completely from Indian car market.  The SHVS Ciaz is energized with starter engine along with powerful battery the SHVS Ciaz gets the power from 1.3 litre MJD DDiS 200 engine boosting the power of 89 b hp and torque of 200 Nm.

August14, 2015: According to recent industry reports country’s leading car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India Limited is going to stop the production of Ciaz Diesel in Indian car market to make way for its up-coming SHVS (Hybrid) Version. Few days back it was reported that company is going to introduce SHVS (Hybrid) in Ciaz. It is reported that the proposed SHVS (Hybrid) trim would be empowered with 1.3 litre DDiS diesel engine which would be supported by a battery and an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). It is also reported that company has started the bookings of Hybrid Ciaz at the down payment of Rs. 11,000.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Grabs the second position in segment

 
June 25, 2015: It is reported Maruti Suzuki Ciaz from country’s leading car manufacturer MSIL has succeeded in grabbing the second position in its segment, just within the eight months after its launch. According to reports company has sold out around 50,000 units of this sedan across the world during this period, pulling out Hyundai Verna Fluidic from second position. Launched in October 2014, the sedan was launched in both petrol and diesel variants.

December 2, 2014: MSIL has recalled 3796 units of its recent initiative Ciaz launched in Indian car market on October 6, 2014. According to sources of company this recall has been called as preventive measure due to suspected harm to owners of these units due to faulty clutch system. These units were manufactured till November 7, 2014.

Maruti Suzuki to start export of Ciaz from next month 

 

October 7, 2014: After successful launch of Ciaz sedan in Indian car market with starting price of Rs. 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom price in New Delhi) in C segment, country’s leading car manufacturing company MSIL has said that it will start exporting Ciaz to European, South American, African and South East Asian countries. The first fleet of this sedan would be exported to Latin America, Middle East and Africa from next month. The company also speculates to produce 60,000 to 80,000 units of Ciaz annually depending upon its demand in domestic and global car market.

The Ciaz has been launched in both petrol and diesel variants in four trims namely Vxi, Vxi+, ZXi and ZXi+. As compared to SX4 and Balero the exteriors of Ciaz are more aggressive and dynamic. The trapezoidal front grille receive sufficient chrome garnish, with this sweptback headlights further grab the attention of everyone walking on road at first instance. Moving towards the side profile it receives chrome door handles, flared wheel arches followed by a long shoulder line across the side profile. Moving towards the rear portion wrapped around tail lamps succeed in giving the sedan an exclusive look. The large body colored rear bumper sports reflectors. The new Ciaz has been launched in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant is empowered with 1.4 litre K series petrol engine producing the power of 92 bhp and torque of 130Nm. The diesel variant is empowered with 1.4 litre Multijet diesel engine producing the power of 90 bhp and torque of 200 Nm. Both the engines are mated with five speed manual gearbox followed by four speed automatic transmission system in petrol version. The petrol engine has displacement capacity of 1377cc whereas the diesel engine has displacement capacity of 1248cc.  The diesel variant is expected to deliver the fuel efficient performance of 26.21 kmpl while the petrol variant is claimed to deliver an average of 20.73 kmpl.

 

Maurti Suzuki Ciaz pick up and acceleration:

 

The petrol engine has displacement capacity of 1377 cc whereas the diesel variant has displacement capacity of 1248 cc. Both the engines are mated with five speed manual gearbox along with four speed automatic transmission system offered in top end trim of petrol version. With the top speed of 160 kmph, both engines may accelerate the speed from standstill to 100 kmph within the span of 15 seconds.

There are some common accessory items offered in all variants of Ciaz which includes high defined audio system supporting connectivity with USB devices, to enhance sound quality of music system company has also mounted four speakers along with two tweeters. The audio system offered in mid and top end variants also supports connectivity with Bluetooth connectivity.
