Mahindra XUV 7XO Looks

Exterior Features: Designed To Revolutionise The Segment

<>

At first glance, the Mahindra XUV 7XO looks similar to the XV700, due to its overall silhouette and proportions. It would be interesting to know that instead of introducing the complete new design philosophy, Mahindra has clearly chosen a subtle facelift approach.

Signature Grille  Big Fog Lamps

Sunroof

The front fascia of the XUV 7XO gets slimmer C-shaped LED DRLs, a redesigned bumper with angular fog lamp housings, and a wider, less tall grille finished in chrome and piano black. The revised LED headlights with cube-shaped projectors give the front portion a modern touch, whereas the integration of sequential indicators enhances its premium appeal; however theyare positioned separately from the DRLs.

Moving towards the side profile, the most noticeable update is the new 19-inch alloy wheels (18-inch alloys or steel wheels on lower variants). The motorised flush door handles and chrome window line continue from the outgoing model, maintaining the premium stance.
The rear portion gets smoked LED tail-lamps with honeycomb detailing, which grabs the attention of commuters at first glance. The combination of LED tail-lamps with a piano black panel housing the Mahindra logo makes the rear portion more attractive. The redesigned bumper with a mesh-like pattern differentiates it from the XUV 700. Overall, the XUV 7XO looks fresher and more polished; however, buyers expecting a completely changed architecture may be disappointed.

Interior Features: A Combination Of Futuristic Design And  Technical Updates

Speaking about the interior features, you will notice the remarkable changes. The dashboard layout is inspired by Mahindra’s electric SUVs, featuring a triple 12.3-inch screen setup that dominates the cabin. This gives the XUV 7XO a distinctly futuristic and premium feel.
The new off-white, chestnut brown, and black cabin theme adds visual richness, and the mix of textures and finishes enhances the perceived quality. While the plastics are still hard, they feel well-finished, and the leatherette upholstery on key touchpoints adds comfort. The flat-bottom steering wheel borrowed from Mahindra’s EV lineup further enhances the sporty, modern vibe.

Among all these changes, one segment that remains unchanged is the central console. The central consol continues with rotary knobs, physical buttons, and cupholders from the XUV700, which is undoubtedly an intelligent decision,  as it balances touchscreen tech with physical usability.
The XUV 7XO is offered in 6- and 7-seat configurations, with captain seats limited to the AX7 trim. Notably, there is no 5-seater option anymore, positioning the 7XO firmly as a family-focused SUV.

Additional Interior Features: First In The Segment

Mahindra has not left any stone unturned in the integration of all the latest technical features. The highlight is the three-screen layout, offering sharp graphics and smartphone-like responsiveness. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard, along with OTT apps like YouTube and Hotstar, Alexa voice commands, and even ChatGPT integration.

The passenger screen can stream content or play games even while the vehicle is in motion, adding to rear-seat and co-passenger entertainment. Other notable additions include:
·         16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Vision and Atmos
·         540-degree camera system
·         In-car camera for video calls
·         Auto-dipping ORVMs
·         Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) feature
Apart from this, the interior continues to come equipped with features like ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and connected car tech outsourced from the XUV 700.

 Leatherette Seats Wireless Charging

Boot Space

Although the car maker has not revealed the boot space dimensions, it is expected to carry the same boot space as available in the XUV700. It is also expected to receive a 50:50 split-folding third row seating feature as offered in its earlier version.

The name of Mahindra XUV700 is  known as one of the most successful SUVs in the Indian market. To en-cash its existing popularity and further strengthen its position in the SUV segment of the Indian car market, the domestic car maker Mahindra has launched it in a new and updated version with the name XUV 7XO.  With the introductory price of Rs 13.66 lakh (ex-showroom price), the XUV 7XO brings refreshed styling, a tech-heavy cabin, and enhanced safety features, while retaining the strong mechanical package that made the XUV700 popular in the first place. The company will initiate the bookings for XUV 7XO  on January 14, with test drives starting January 6, making it one of the most anticipated family SUVs of the year.

Performance: The Power Remains Unchanged

Mechanically, the XUV 7XO remains unchanged, and that’s not a bad thing. It continues with:

·         2.0-litre turbo-petrol producing 202 PS and 380 Nm

·         2.2-litre diesel producing up to 185 PS and 450 Nm

Both engines are available with 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes, though AWD is exclusive to the diesel automatic.

The petrol engine, although it offers refinement and strong highway performance, suffers from lower fuel efficiency. The diesel, on the other hand, offers a better balance of power, torque, and economy, making it the more versatile choice—especially for long-distance users and those seeking AWD capability.

Safety: Strong Credentials Continue

Safety has always been a strong point for Mahindra, and the XUV 7XO continues to carry this reputation. Standard safety features include:

·         6 airbags

·         Electronic Stability Program (ESP)

·         ISOFIX child seat mounts

·         Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Higher variants get 7 airbags and Level-2 ADAS, including adaptive cruise control and driver drowsiness detection. Considering the pre-facelift XUV700 scored a 5-star Global NCAP rating, expectations from the XUV 7XO remain high.
