Hyundai launches i20 Active in Indian car market

 
March 17, 2015: HMIL today launched its highly awaited crossover i20 Active in Indian car market with starting price of Rs. 6.38 lakh (ex-showroom price, New Delhi). The i20 Active crossover has been offered in both petrol and diesel avatars. The petrol version is empowered with 1.2 litre kappa four cylinder engine generating the power of 83 bhp and torque of 113 Nm while the diesel trim is energized with 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine boosting the power 89 bhp and torque of 219 Nm. Based on Fluidic version 2.0 concept the crossover carries most of its cues from Elite i20 hatchback.

 

 

March 5: After the successful launch of Elite i20 hatchback last year and Hyundai 4S F luidic Verna last month, Korean car maker Hyundai Motors is reported to bring its new vehicle in Indian market tentatively on March 18, 2015. Codenamed as Hyundai i20 Active would be the ever compact crossover by the car maker and would carry most of its cues from its sibling hatchback Elite i20. The vehicle is expected to continue the same engine configurations of1.2 litre, Kappa VTVT petrol engine and 1.4 litre, CRDi diesel engine engine. The petrol engine is coated with five speed manual transmission system while the diesel would be offered with six speed manual gearbox. It is reported that the compact crossover would be based on car maker Fluidic 2.0 design platform.



Hyundai i20 Active Looks

Inside the cabin it is expected that crossover will be decorated with fascinating dual tone color treatment along with metallic and  chrome garnish on various items. It is also speculated to receive piano black color treatment on dashboard and door handles. The dashboard may be carried from Elite 20. The cabin is expected to be spacious than compared to Elite i20 hatchback. The three spoke steering wheel might receive multi functional buttons mounted on it.  It is also speculated to carry  some additional features like storage pockets, accessory power socket, drink holders, cabin lamps etc.
 
Talking about luxurious features adorned in this upcoming compact crossover it is speculated to carry some impressive luxurious features for instance front and rear door map pockets, digital clock, front seats with adjustable headrests, tachomter, ticket holder, front power windows, battery saver, electronic outside mirrors from inside, sunglass holder, electronic ORVMs, rear AC vents, front center armrest, parking sensor display,  steering position reminder and many more.

The compact crossover is reported to be offered in both petrol and diesel trims that would be empowered with 1.2 litre Kappa, Dual VTVT petrol engine boosting the power of 82 bhp at 6000 rpm and torque of 115 Nm at 4000 rpm. The 4 cylinders multi point fuel injection system is reported to be offered with five speed manual transmission system.  On the other side diesel engine is said to be offered with 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine that will boost the power of 88.76 bhp at 4000 rpm and torque of 219.7 Nm at rpm ranging from 1500 rpm to 2750 rpm. It is reported to be offered with six speed manual transmission system. It is endorsed that both the engines would be fuel efficient engines in segment with petrol trim delivering an average of 18 kmpl to 20 kmp while the diesel engine is reported to deliver the fuel efficient performance of 21 kmpl to 24 kmpl.
 

Hyundai i20 Pick-up and acceleration

 
As the cross over is developed on Elite i20 platform it is expected to deliver the same speed acceleration performance. The petrol trim is reported to mark the top notch of 170 kmph followed by hitting the speed of 100 kmph within the span of 13.2 seconds. The diesel version is reported to cross the mark of 100 kmph from the standstill in the span of 11.9 seconds and top notch of 180 kmph.

Hyundai i20 Active Expert Review

Developed on its elder sibling’s platform Elite i20- launched last year, Hyundai i20 Active would be the first compact crossover from Korean car maker which is reported to make its debut in Indian car market on March 18, 2015. The crossover would be developed on Fluidic 2.0 design based on Elite i20 hatchback it is speculated to carry most of its cues from this hatchback. It speculated to be offered in both petrol and diesel trims and continue the same engine configurations in both engines. It means the petrol engine will carry 1.2 litre Kappa VTVT petrol engine boosting the power of 82 bhp and torque of 115 Nm. The petrol engine is reported to be coated with five speed manual transmission system. On the other side diesel variant is said to be offered with 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine which would be coated with six speed manual transmission system.
 
Moving towards the other features that would be similar to Elite i209 hatchback but still it will carry some distinctive features to make it look different from hatchback. The front fascia will receive chrome garnished headlight cluster, large radiator grille. Black colored claddings and stripes across the vehicle. Another features offered in this upcoming compact crossover includes alloy wheels, spoilers, roof rails and various other features that will give it more sportier look. Moving inside the cabin it will receive dual tone color treatment, automatic air conditioner, high defined audio system, parking assist system, and few more.
