Tips For Buying An Electric Car (Part II)

With increasing fuel costs and pollution, people are moving towards electric mobility.  But due to the absence of required infrastructural facilities and high maintenance costs, the demand for electric cars is not encouraging. However, with high-performing electric cars like Tata Nexon, Hyundai Kona, and a few more, Indian buyers are moving towards electric cars.

Inspired by the success enjoyed by these electric cars in India, not only buyers are shifting towards these vehicles, but the leading car manufacturers are electrifying their fuel-powered vehicles. If you are also planning to buy an electric car, then there are certain tips for you to consider. These tips will help you in buying a required electric car for your driving.

Charging Infrastructure and Options: The presence of appropriate charging infrastructure is one of the important things to consider. It is one of the reasons because of which people hesitate in buying an electric car. Finding a fuel station is quite easier. Metro cities are exceptions, in this case. But locating a charging station in Tier 2 and Tier 3 is difficult. Therefore, it is better to check the presence of charging infrastructure in your city. Moving ahead, also understand the charging options available for your car. Normally there are three types of charging options available for electric cars, fast, medium and slow. Fast chargers are expensive and therefore installing charging facilities for them is also expensive. On another side, installing standard and low-charging facilities is quite affordable. You can also install them at your home. Therefore, check the charging options available for charging the type of electric car you are going to buy.

Cost of Maintenance: Whether you own a fuel-based car or an electric car, every car needs proper maintenance for smooth driving. Normally maintenance of the electric car is not expensive, due to the minimum moving components. However, if unfortunately there is damage to any component, then the cost of repairs is very expensive. Replacement of their components is also expensive.  Moving ahead, the number of technicians to repair and replace defective components is also very less. All these factors are important to consider at the time of buying an electric car.

Practicability: In a country like India, buying an electric car doesn’t sound practical. It doesn’t suit your driving needs. Before buying a car, a normal Indian consider factors like the average, the distance he travels daily etc. If you are living in a metro city, where offices are located at far locations, buying an electric car is the best option. If you are planning to buy an electric car then make sure that you need it.

Extra Expenses: There are lots of additional expenses related to an electric car. The buyer has to buy a home charger, installation of a charging station, maintenance of charging station and public charging station is quite expensive. Compared to the maintenance of fuel-based vehicles all these charges cost more.

Bottom-Line: In changing scenario when the cost of fuel is hiking at jet dynamic speed, and the problem of pollution is increasing with the increasing number of vehicles and industries. In all these circumstances the use of electric vehicles seems feasible. However, as you consider different factors before buying any vehicle, you need to follow the same trick when buying an electric car for your use.
