Maruti Suzuki Victoris vs Hyundai Creta – Compact SUV Face-Off
The compact SUV segment in India has flourished dynamically in the last decade. The continuous arrival of new models with advanced features attracts buyers looking for style, space, and technology. Continuing the same trend, Maruti Suzuki country’s leading car manufacturing company, has now added another strong contender in its portfolio as Victoris. The new SUV will be sold through Arena dealerships to reach a wider audience and will bridge the gap between Brezza and Grand Vitara. This move from MSIL positions it directly against the Hyundai Creta, dominating the mid-size SUV category. In this blog, we attempt to make a comparison between these SUVs.

Engine Options: The Victoris comes with three engine options, including a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol (103 PS), a 1.5-litre strong-hybrid petrol (116 PS), and a 1.5-litre petrol-CNG (87 PS). Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and an e-CVT for the hybrid. It also offers Maruti’s ALLGRIP SELECT AWD system, which is offered for the first time in this segment. Claimed mileage figures are impressive — up to 28.65 km/l for the strong hybrid and 27.02 km/kg for the CNG variant.
The Creta, on the other hand, also comes with three options, including a 1.5-litre petrol (115 PS), a 1.5-litre diesel (116 PS), and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (160 PS). The Korean carmaker offers the transmission options of manual, automatic, CVT, or DCT gearboxes.
Design and Dimensions: The recently launched Victoris carries a bold SUV look, with slim LED DRLs, squared wheel arches, roof rails, connected LED tail lamps, and a rugged skid plate. The Creta carries an urban-inspired design with its connected LED light bar, large grille, and sleek alloy wheels. Dimension-wise, Victoris is slightly longer (4,360 mm vs. 4,330 mm) and taller (1,655 mm vs. 1,635 mm), whereas Creta carries a marginally longer wheelbase (2,610 mm vs. 2,600 mm). Both SUVs offer a strong road presence and spacious cabins.
Features and Technology: The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is equipped with an array of contemporary features, including a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, 10.1-inch HD touchscreen, ventilated front seats, wireless charging with active cooling, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a premium Harman sound system with Dolby Atmos. It also has received a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, and carries safety features like Level 2 ADAS, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, six airbags, and a 360-degree camera. It also carries an underbody CNG kit to maximise boot space, making it suitable for budget-conscious buyers.
The Hyundai Creta already dominates the segment with some of its first-in-class features. It offers a 10.25-inch connected superscreen, digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, Bluelink connected car tech, paddle shifters, and an eight-speaker Bose sound system. Its Level 2 ADAS suite, drive modes, and strong features make it a preferred choice to impress prospective buyers.
Forcast: Both the Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Hyundai Creta are excellent choices. Victoris impresses with its fuel efficiency, safety rating, and technology, while Creta continues to be a trusted all-rounder with powerful engine options and a premium cabin. Pricing of the Victoris will be the final deciding factor. One thing which is clear is that the arrival of Victoris will be like adding petrol to the fire and increase competition in the compact SUV segment.
