Kochi vs Mumbai: Which City Has Better-Maintained Cars?
During the last decade, India has emerged as a hub for car manufacturers across the world. Every car launched in the international market is launched immediately in the Indian car market as well. It can be said that India has no shortage of luxury and exotic cars, especially in metropolitan cities like Mumbai. From supercars to ultra-luxury sedans, the country’s financial capital is regarded as the ultimate destination for high-end automobiles. However, a video posted on Instagram reveals something else. The video has shifted the spotlight southwards, highlighting Kochi’s exceptional car culture and unmatched vehicle maintenance standards.

The video is shared by an automobile enthusiast, in which he is surprised to see the maintenance of the Toyota Innova cab that came to receive him from the airport. Comparing Mumbai and Kochi, he remarked that while Mumbai might showcase the most exotic cars, Kochi stands out for having some of the best-looking and best-kept vehicles in India.
“Bombay might have the best car scenes in the country, but Kochi has the best-looking cars in the country, period,” he said in the video.
The thing that truly impressed him was the interior of the Innova cab. He has highlighted a close look at the upgraded seats, spotless upholstery, and premium finish, stating that the seats would not look out of place in a Ferrari or a Porsche 911 GT3 Touring. “These are in an Innova,” he added, clearly astonished by the level of care and personalisation.
According to him, this deep-rooted passion for cars is rare across India, with perhaps only cities like Coimbatore coming close. He credited Kochi’s residents for treating their vehicles not just as machines, but as a precious asset owned by them. Praising Kerala’s automotive culture further, he wrote in the caption, “My Kerala car brothers & sisters are masters! Both of the cars & food! After Bombay, my favourite city in India will always be Kochi.”
Social Media Users Agree
The video quickly went viral, sparking a lively discussion in the comments section. Many users agreed with his thought, noting that Kerala as a whole has a reputation for well-maintained vehicles.
According to various commenters, the practice of maintaining the vehicle properly is not limited to private cars but even to public transport facilities like auto rickshaws, buses, and even app-based cab services in Kerala. Others highlighted cities like Kottayam, which reportedly boasts one of the largest collections of sports and supercars in the country.
“In general, cars in Kerala are well-maintained. You will get the best old cars from Kerala,” read one comment, echoing a widely shared sentiment.
Kochi: A Favourite for Food and Cars
The creator concluded the video by calling Kochi one of his favourite cities in India, praising not only its food but also its unparalleled car care culture. According to him, the level of attention and love given to vehicles in Kochi is simply “untouchable.”
As the video continues to gain traction online, it has once again reinforced Kerala’s reputation as a state where automobiles are not just driven, but truly cherished.
