1. Bengaluru – India’s EV Capital

Recognised as India’s technology hub, Bengaluru is also among the top cities in adopting the electric mobility revolution. The Karnataka government has installed more than 831 public EV charging stations, with many more under development. In fact, Karnataka was one of the first states to introduce a dedicated EV policy to make Bengaluru the EV capital of India. With a tech-savvy population and active participation by the government, Bengaluru continues to move towards electric mobility with enthusiasm and innovation.

 

2. Delhi – Driving Change for Cleaner Air

Struggling with the problem of air pollution, adopting electric mobility is more of a necessity than a choice for the natives of Delhi. The Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2020 stands out as one of India’s most comprehensive EV policies, offering subsidies, road tax exemptions, and incentives for buyers. With over 1,900 public EV charging stations and battery-swapping facilities across the city, Delhi is rapidly moving toward becoming one of the most EV-friendly urban centres in the country.

 

3. Hyderabad – Combining Heritage with Innovation

Famous for its rich history and thriving IT industry, Hyderabad is quickly becoming a strong contender in India for adopting electric mobility. The Telangana EV and Energy Storage Policy 2020–2030 aims to attract investment in EV manufacturing while promoting adoption through tax exemptions and subsidies. The state government is working hard to strengthen its charging infrastructure and is inviting active participation from both public and private sectors. Hyderabad’s forward-thinking approach positions it as a rising leader in electric mobility.

 

4. Mumbai – Financial Capital Turning Green

The financial capital is also taking meaningful steps to reduce its carbon footprint through electric mobility. Under Maharashtra’s EV policy, buyers of electric cars will be offered substantial benefits and incentives. The city also plans to install 1,500 public chargers over the next few years to provide a strong charging infrastructure for EV users.

 

5. Pune – Emerging Green Mobility Hub

Pune’s environmentally conscious residents are playing an important role in the city’s transition to sustainable mobility. With 446 public charging stations, the local administration plans to increase that number to over 700. Pune is rapidly becoming an EV-friendly zone. Charging facilities are located near IT parks, residential complexes, and public areas, ensuring accessibility for all.
