Hyundai Eon, another upcoming gem in the crown of the second largest carmaker, Going strong to become No.1

Hyundai Eon, another upcoming gem in the crown of the second largest carmaker, Going strong to become No.1

In India whenever there is an announcement made by any of the company for its new product and if the words like inexpensive and affordable are attached to it that ensures that the half of the marketing is done for your product. And if that company holds some repute among its buyers, its three fourth of the marketing is been already done even before the product launch. One cannot forget the craze with ultra-low-cost-car Tata Nano. The new compact Hyundai car- Eon is creating some of those vibes in the country, but we cannot rate Eon as the ultra-low-cost-car because of the price in which it brackets. The small car as we all know will compete with the bestselling car of the country till date, Maruti Alto and to some extent with Chevrolet Spark. The Hyundai Eon is small and trendy and such A-segment car was awaited in the auto industry since long…very long.

If you look at Hyundai Eon the instant reaction that will flow out from your mind will be a feeling of delight for the design. The lines on the exterior of the car obediently pursue the Hyundai’s ‘Fluidic Philosophy’, when looked on the front you come across the hexagonal design front-grille that grips Hyundai’s emblem- which denotes trust, the headlamps which seems stolen from a bug bestows smiling appearance in front. The headlamps with large reflectors allure a lot and are perfectly placed and ready to go for conditions in India.  A practically large air dam and clamshell bonnet adds to the aggressive design at the front of compact car.

Keeping in sight the Hyundai’s tall-boy design image since the launch of Santro- at the rear of the car you will find tail-lamps shaped as droplet of tear, which looks elegant. Sometimes you also feel that the car is built on Santro’s base with some changes.

The wheel base of 2,380mm seems similar to that of Santro and the overall length is 3,495mm. Hyundai Eon is taller and wider as compared to Maruti Alto, without measuring you can state this. Eon’s overall height is 1500mm while overall width is 1550mm.

The dual color theme is available as an option for the interior, other interesting elements in the cabin are the ‘deity space’ on top of dashboard, which is sure to catch each and everyone’s eyes.

Keeping in mind that the car will contend with Alto in every segment may it be price or size, hence some components are borrowed from i10 and Santro. The car carries 814 cc, three-cylinder SOHC (Single Over Head Camshaft) engine, which is great for a fuel efficient drive. The engine is capable enough to generate a top notch power of 56 PS at 5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 7.65Kgm at 4000 rpm. With this combination Eon successfully surpasses the current Mauiti Alto.

The Hyundai races ahead as it claims a mileage of 21.1 kmpl with Eon, as compared to the Alto which is 19.73 kmpl.

As a car buyer you will surely go for it. Also Hyundai’s catch hold in the small car segment had been promising in the past initially beginning with Santro.. going ahead with i10 and stronger with i20 and will it be strongest with Eon? The answer will arise in sometime, as the launch is expected on 13th October, till then let’s keep our fingers crossed.

I feel that the base variant's price should be around 2.5 lakh, it is enough for it.
