Facts to Know About Incomplete FASTag KYC and FASTag Status
FASTag has become an essential part of road travel in India. The use of FASTag enables automatic toll deductions and comfortable travel across national highways. However, one critical requirement for FASTag users is ensuring that their KYC (Know Your Customer) details are complete. In the absence of incomplete KYC, the FASTag of your vehicle may be cancelled unit its KYC is completed. To avoid this from happening to you, it is essential to check the KYC FASTag status of your car and update it accordingly if it is incomplete.

In this blog, we talk about the process to identify incomplete KYC, understand the “One Vehicle One FASTag” rule, and check the status of your FASTag.
How to Know if Your FASTag KYC is Incomplete
If your FASTag KYC is incomplete, you will be notified by your issuing bank via SMS, email, or through their mobile application. Make sure you check your registered mobile number and email regularly for any communication. If you don’t receive such alerts, it means the FASTag KYC of your vehicle is complete and no further action is required.
To update your FASTag KYC online:
For NHAI-issued FASTags:
- Visit https://fastag.ihmcl.com
- Log in to your account
- Move to the KYC update section and upload the required documents
For FASTags issued by other banks:
- Go to https://www.netc.org.in/request-fornetc-fastag
- Select your issuing bank and click on the website link
- Login to your account and proceed with the KYC update
Understanding the 'One Vehicle One FASTag' Rule
Many users are confused about the rule of 'One Vehicle One FASTag.' This regulation simply means that only one active FASTag is allowed per vehicle. If multiple FASTags are issued for the same vehicle, in that scenario, only the FASTag issued in the present will be activated; other FASTags issued earlier will be deactivated automatically.
It is, however, important to note that this doesn’t mean that you must use only one specific bank for recharging. You are free to recharge your FASTag via UPI, BBPS, net banking, or any other accepted payment method, instead of the issuing bank.
How to Check the Status of Multiple FASTags
If you are unaware of the number of FASTags issued for your vehicle or its existing status, you can easily check this online:
1. Visit: https://www.npci.org.in/what-we-do/netc-fastag/check-your-netcfastag-status
2. Enter your vehicle registration number
3. Click on “Submit”
4. The portal will display the status of all FASTags linked to your vehicle
By updating the status of your vehicle's FASTag, you not only comply with the government rules but also enjoy smooth and comfortable travel on highways without being disturbed for incomplete KYC of your vehicle.
