Dark Editions: Why Buyers Are Obsessed With Them

Dark Editions: Why Buyers Are Obsessed With Them

The launch of special editions of cars has gained huge popularity in the Indian car market. This trend has been further fuelled by the launch of “Dark Edition” by the famous car makers. As the name suggests, the major characters of these editions are full-black bodywork, interiors, and sleek design elements. Understanding the craze of buyers towards these black editions, all car manufacturers, from national to international, are following this trend. It would not be wrong to say that the black colour, which is often associated with sophistication and aggression, has created a growing demand, particularly among young and style-conscious buyers.

Reasons Behind The Increasing Craze For Black Edition
Industry experts consider the changing preferences of Indian car buyers as a major reason behind this trend. “There is a clear shift toward personalization and exclusivity,” said an industry analyst. “Customers are looking for vehicles that reflect power and individuality, and Dark Editions do just that.” Moving ahead, these models often come with added features and cosmetic upgrades, increasing their value proposition. As the practice of expressing high status has been the trend, the design and looks of black editions make them look distinct from regular special editions launched periodically.

Dark Editions Launched By Major Automakers

While talking about Dark Editions launched by major car manufacturers, the first name which dominates the segment is the Indian carmaker Tata Motors.  Its Dark Edition lineup includes Nexon, Harrier, Safari, and the upcoming Curvv. The Nexon CNG Dark Edition, priced at Rs 12.70 lakh, is the perfect combination of style with fuel efficiency, while the Harrier and Safari Dark Editions continue to attract attention with their exclusive design.

After Tata Motors, one more domestic carmaker making its entrance in the gang of dark editions is Mahindra & Mahindra. It is reported that Mahindra is going to launch the black edition of its popular SUV Scorpio N, soon in the Indian car market. Going through the popularity of the Scorpio brand, it is believed that the black edition will not only impress prospective buyers but also come with some premium features and an aggressive look.

Besides, both these carmakers, other names, that have been a part of the black edition portfolio include, the Toyota Hilux Black Edition priced at Rs 37.90 lakh (ex-showroom price). MG Motors, Astor Blackstorm Edition is offered with the price tag of Rs 13.45 lakh (ex-showroom price). Not to forget, the luxurious carmaker Rolls-Royce has also introduced the Spectre Black Badge edition.

Conclusion: From popular carmakers to luxurious carmakers launching Dark Editions of their famous models, industry experts believe that it is a phase, which will pass after some time. However, one thing which can be said about these editions is that they will play a crucial role in boosting the sales of manufacturers.
