5 Highly Safe Cars for Driving in India

5 Highly Safe Cars for Driving in India

The buyers of cars in India are always concerned about their prices. They prefer to buy a car that is within their budget and has all features which are available in an expensive car. They are not concerned about the presence of safety features. Interestingly, in recent years there is a change in their buying behaviour. Especially after most of the cars available in India got 4 stars to 5 stars ranking in the Global New Car Assessment (Global NCAP) crash tests.

Moving ahead, with the announcement of the Indian government to offer the safety features like airbags, ABS+EBD, and a few more as standard features in cars. The Indian buyers have now started understanding the relevance of safety features in the cars. Today we are listing the best cars which are not only safe for driving in India but have also received top ranking in the Global NCAP test.

The Tata Tigor EV: The compact sedan Tigor is one of the best selling cars in the Indian car market since its inception. Inspired by its success, the domestic car Tata Motors launched its electric variant based on Ziptron technology. It is the first electric car in India to go for the Global NCAP test under the #SaferCarsForIndia campaign, organized by the Global NCAP. During the test, the compact sedan got an impressive ranking of 4 stars for adult occupants and the same for child occupants. Unfortunately, the bodyshell of the Tigor could not succeed in impressing the NCAP officials and was regarded unstable to withstand the extra loadings.

The Tata Tiago: Developed on the same platform as used for developing the compact sedan Tigor, the Tiago hatchback also received the four-star rating in the GNCAP test. The analysis of the result was the same as calculated for Tigor. It also received a four-star rating for both adult and child occupants and its body was also unstable to withstand the extra loadings.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza: Despite being the largest carmaker in the Indian car market, compact SUV Vitara Brezza from the Indo-Japanese carmaker succeed in receiving a four-star rating in the Global NCAP test. The compact SUV received the same rankings for both adult and child occupants as received by the Tigor and Tiago. However, its bodyshell was stable and capable of withstanding the extra loadings.

Mahindra Thar: The Thar SUV from the domestic carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra is also one of the safest cars in India to drive. In its new avatar, the SUV received a four-star rating for both adult and child occupants. Similar to Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, its body shell was also found stable and capable to stay strong with extra loadings.

Volkswagen Polo: The hatchback Polo from the German carmaker Volkswagen scored 4 stars for the adult’s occupants and 3 stars for the child occupants. The bodyshell of Polo was also stable and capable of withstanding the extra loadings.

Besides these five cars, the recently launched hatchback Punch from the domestic car maker Tata Motors, Tata Altroz, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV300, are also the safest cars in India to drive.
