5 Essential Checks to Make After Your Car’s Service

5 Essential Checks to Make After Your Car’s Service

Regular car servicing is crucial to maintain the healthy condition of your beloved car. Doing this not only ensures the safety of your vehicle but also enhances its performance. There are some things which as a car owner you should consider after servicing your vehicle because making mistakes is human nature. It is possible that while servicing or while picking up or dropping your vehicle it might get damaged due to any reason. To ensure the condition of your car it is imperative to check it extensively to check for scratches or damage to the vehicle.

This blog highlights five important checks to ensure the work was done as promised.

1. Check Damages or Missing Items: As soon as you get your vehicle, don’t forget to check it from both exterior and interior for scuffs, scratches, dents, or other damages that might have occurred during servicing. Don’t forget to check the alloy wheels for any signs of damage. Also, ensure that items like floor mats, tools, additional accessories or spares are present inside the car.  If you requested interior cleaning, ensure that the surfaces are dust-free and tidy.

2. Check the Bill: As a normal practice whether you take your car dealership or private centre service centre, the centre provides you with an estimated bill before servicing your vehicle. At the time of payment after servicing check the bill thoroughly for extra hidden charges added to the final bill. Remember that charges for engine oil, filters, brake oil, etc, are charged even when the free service is offered by the dealerships. If you notice an excessive hike in the final bill, bring this to the notice of the servicing centre to avoid extra charges.

3. Verify Fluids and Filters: Although the chances of cheating are likely zero, it is recommended to ensure that the servicing centre has replaced or topped up the necessary fluids accordingly. To check the level and condition of the engine oil, use the dipstick provided for the purpose. Also check for the air filters, whether they are replaced or not, a new air filter will be always free from dust and clean.

4. Go for the Test Drive: As soon as you come out from the service centre, go for a short drive to check the performance of brakes, accelerator, clutch pedal, engine, lights, horn, etc. Make sure all the components perform according to the original equipment manufacturer's specifications.

5. Clear all Dobuts:  If you think that the centre hasn’t performed the service properly or the vehicle isn’t performing as it was before servicing, get this doubt clarified by the centre. Sometimes, when old components are replaced with the new ones there is a change in their performance unit they undergo regular operations.

Conclusion: Performing these essential checks after servicing will give you peace of mind and help maintain your car in excellent condition. Regular monitoring of the quality of service ensures that your vehicle remains safe, efficient, and ready for the road ahead.
