The very first car manufactured by the MSIL (Maruti Suzuki Indi Limited) was Maruti 800 in 1983. The car is quite worthy, consisting essential features if compared to its affordable price. The company has launched it associated with LPG kit in 2008.
Maruti 800 is a compact car and suits the Indian roads perfectly along with its good fuel economy and low maintenance cost. The fully loaded Maruti 800 having petrol engine in the standard model gives decent mileage of 17.5 kmpl in the city and raise up to 22.1 kmpl on the highways. The variant having petrol engine with AC has a good mileage of 15.7 kmpl in the city and boosts up to 19.9 kmpl on the highways. The variant equipped with LPG kit in the standard model delivers mileage of 12.0 kmpl in the city while 16.4 kmpl on the highways. The variant associated with LPG kit and AC has mileage of 12.4 kmpl in the city and 16.6 kmpl on the highways. Maruti 800 Engine, Power and Performance
The car models are divided into two types one with petrol engine and one with LPG kit.
0.8 L SOHC engine
The 0.8 L water cooled SOHC in-line engine is assimilated with 4 stroke cycles. The engine possesses piston displacement of 796 cc. The engine is associated with 3 cylinders, each of which has 2 valves and 4 speed gear box& 1 reverse manual transmission. Based on the Multi Point Fuel Injection technology, the engine is extremely powerful and mileage efficient.
The car is available in LPG engine in Maruti 800 Std. LPG with the same engine configuration as above, the only difference being the LPG kit that comes installed in the car. The Ultra-refined & capable 32-bit ECM Hi-Tech LPG engine is very responsive. This variant is more economical and environment friendly but equally supported is the Petrol Engine that is known for its high efficiency and performance throughout the segment.
